Pure speculation here but Finch wasn't TC's choice. So here is my wild speculation for the Timberwolves next coach.
Austin Rivers
TC brought him to DEN his last year there, brought him in here and he has that leadership veteran role. He's already familiar with the team and I think TC is very fond of him.
It would be easy to move on from Finch as he was inherited and one could easily ask does he maximize player development and efficiency?
It's quite clear to me having rotations where you put your 3 best defenders around DLO & Gobert and put them in Pick N Lob situations trying to get DLO hot would be ideal. A way of trying to make DLO most efficient. When DLO is hot it's game changing and not working that angle more could be why Finch is gone among other reasons.
What other reasons do you think Finch might be gone?
Who do you think might become the Wolves next Coach?

Re: The next Timberwolves Coach
Chris Finch is probably safe for the rest of this season and next season given the outstanding job he did last year and the fact that he was extended last summer, however, I haven't been impressed or pleased with him this season. I think he's done a very poor job of utilizing the talent on this roster in ways that create advantageous situations for the Timberwolves. We have clear strengths for several of Minnesota's best players that aren't being emphasized nearly enough -- specifically as it pertains to pick-and-roll basketball. I don't think anyone could rationally argue that he's maximized his personnel at all. And that's without getting into the in-game management issues that have percolated on occasion -- timeouts, lineup combinations, ATO and SOOB play design, etc. He's failed more than anyone else to this point, in my opinion, and the injuries this team has sustained are only a viable excuse to a point.
With that said, there's still plenty of time for all involved and I remain confident (and hopeful) that this current group without changes will ultimately be the team most expected them to be this season. They've started out the calendar year with a three-game win streak against teams ahead of them in the standings. Four of their next nine games are against Houston and Detroit with some beatable teams in-between. They could very well be on the verge of a season-changing stretch here. HODL!

I agree he will probably make it through the year as I see this team as fringe play in game type of team. However if they fail to advance, will the injuries be enough to blame or will a new coach be needed?

David Vanterpool :) I heard Damian Lillard says he's a good coach and I don't want to be called a racist for not hiring him.
To soon?
To soon?

No one seriously believes Finch, or for that matter, Connelly, Gobert, Ant, KAT, Jaden, Kyle, TP, JMac, are going anywhere, do they? Dlo, Naz, Nowell, I can see how the Wolves might move some/all of those players, but I think everyone else is staying put thru the end of next season.

Yeah, the only way Finch loses his job is if we get mostly healthy AND we implode. Both things need to happen.
As for Rivers, you do realize he's still fairly young-ish by NBA vet standards? He can probably make a pretty good living as a player for the next 3-4 years. Given his pedigree and personality, I do see him as head coach material some day. It just won't be for a while yet, assuming that's a path he wants to take.

Apparently, Connelly had a private conversation with Finch and told him he should not consider his job secure. TC had separate conversation with Gobert in which he told him he should be ready to terminate the lease on his Minneapolis condo in next few weeks. Even Doogie didn't get this scoop. Stay tuned for updates.

Might have to wait a year or three but you'll see, no way this one doesn't hit :)
