If KAT didn't get injured we would be the 3 seed
5 more wins would put us there, I know you can't expect players to never miss a game but it's just kind of interesting to think about it amongst all the negativity this season
Re: If KAT didn't get injured we would be the 3 seed
But if KAT didn't go down, I don't think we would have seen the growth from Edwards, and especially McDaniels, that we have seen. One of the arguments against the Gobert trade was it was premature for the timeline of Edwards and McDaniels. Well, their timeline is being accelerated. So when KAT does come back, we might be further along the curve than if KAT did not go down...

In this alternative universe... does every other team still have injured players go down (see most of Phoenix's team)... but the Timberwolves remain the only healthy team?

Speaking of KAT, it sounds like he's not even close to returning. It could be another month or two and at what point is his season in jeopardy?
Given KAT's injury and our slow start, I just don't think we have the firepower to ultimately get into that Top 6 group. Whichever three teams not named Memphis or Denver (who seem locked in at the top 2 seeds) that stays the healthiest will ultimately get seeds 3-6. I'm afraid we won't be one of them. At this point, we'll be lucky to get home court advantage in the play-in games.
Sorry, but I think that's the reality. It's going to hit as we go through this next stretch of games after the Houston game on Monday.

I'll get back to you after our next homestand...
Of course, even if we do well during the homestand, we have got a tough schedule remaining.

Jesus, up to two more months? I have to think we'll be able to get a top 10 spot even without KAT, and there's always a chance in a play-in game or two especially if we have him back by then. But I can't imagine winning a whole playoff series without having more time to integrate him with Rudy and Ant in the lineup before the playoffs. No matter how bad the fit with Rudy may be, clearly more reps with all these guys together and more time for Finch to work on rotations can only make this team better. If we have to plug KAT in at the end of the season without those reps, it's going to be a much more uphill climb trying to win a series.

KAT has never led us to a top 6 seed, so I think #3 is a huge stretch. He is a talented guy no doubt, but he also has nothing but empty accomplishments.
