Kekgeeks random thoughts (Scary I know)

Post by kekgeek »

1) I have really come to enjoy Micheal Grady. Getting rid of Benz I thought was a bad decision because Benz has such a unique chemistry with Jim P. But I have loved Grady and he is coming into his own. A+ hire

2) I am actually really happy with the young guys progression. Ant didn't take this huge top 15 player in the NBA jump like we all hoped but he has gotten better in his all around game, Mcdaniels took a jump, the dude is an elite and possibly and 1st team all defensive player this year, he is now hitting 40% of his 3s. Dude is very good in transition and he will never be iso scorer but if you close out poorly he can put the ball on the floor and score, also developed a nice offensive chemistry with Gobert. Naz also has improved I don't know if I bring him back because I don't want to pay a center who is not a NBA starting center but Naz deserves credit for the improvement. Nowell has been bad this year but the last week and a half he has played within himself what I have enjoyed.

3) From the terrible shooting start from the year, the Wolves now have 3 rotation players shooting 40% from 3, Rivers is really close, Dlo is shooting great and Ant is a high volume and solid numbers. Fantastic turnaround.

4) This team is a great half court offensive and defensive team. Stop turning the ball over boys.

5) Connelly for the most part has done great around the edges, Garza, Ryan, Rivers, Slo Mo, resigning prince, upside with Minott, outside of Forbes his free agent signings have been really good this year.

6) This year has been frustrating but with all the injuries the wolves have had this year (5 of our top 11 have missed 10+ games and Gobert and Naz have missed 8) wolves are right there. I don't think the West is very good, the Warriors are the only team that scares me. Get in and I think we can make a run. (Meaning I think they could win a round or 2)

7) Ant is going to get suspended, he has 12 Techincals on the year 15 is a suspension. That sucks

8) Just overall, I appreciate this board even though we fight a ton. I would rather have this season then 90% of the previous ones. Wolves are a solid team and hopefully when everyone is back the Wolves can do something. I still think this team has a ton of talent, can they mesh in time I am not sure.

Great take Kek. Agreed on all points (and who knew Forbes would have the decline he's had).

Ant does need to hold his complaining to once or twice a game, and even then follow Slo-Mo or DLO's conversational approach to the officials to explain instead of being accusatory (Naz is following the same path).

The West is a bit of a puzzle this year. We are better equipped full strength to play the top teams, and it is the lower end of the contenders that we don't match up with as well (thanks Don Nelson!).

I've yet to see a Sacramento game, but I can't believe they won't drop in the second half

At one point or another, we've all harped on Town's petulance with officials on the court. And before him... Kevin Love was ripped for it often.

Is some of the "non-superstar" treatment toward Edwards his own undoing? Grady and Peterson discussed his yelling for a foul on almost every drive. And the 12 technicals suggest he's not super savvy about talking to officials about them.

Is he overly dismissive? Rude? Just a dick on the court to the officials?

I don't really know, but it's possible. He's young and mercurial. He's not exactly the savviest of guys. He says it like he sees it quite a bit of the time.

All unknown stuff... but I do know we've largely given Edwards a pass for it, even though we've found reasons to rip others for it. Hopefully, he figures it out and ends up around 10 free throws per game like some of the stars in the league sooner than later.

Sacramento's starting 5 has missed a total of 6 games collectively. That is pretty impressive. So yeah, staying healthy matters big-time and to their credit they have done a very good job of it.

Great post Kek, love your optimism.

I'm still relatively sanguine with the longer-term direction because of Ant and Jaden, which you mention. For this season....not sure. I get in theory why they could get their crap together and make a little playoff run, but I have a hard time believing it will happen (meaning winning at least one playoff series).

Grady is a bit cheesy with his "Cash Money" etc.... calls. I thought Benz was annoying too with his down 1, 2 possession nonsense. Can't you just say down 6 points? Keep it simple.

I'm a bit annoyed by most play by play callers though.

I haven't watched enough games with Grady to have a real opinion. I fast forward a lot when I watch so I feel like I need to watch the entire broadcast a few times to really get a feel for whether I like him or not. He does have a good voice.

Like you I do get annoyed by announcers a lot. It's one of the reasons why I enjoy paying a few bucks to NFL.com to be able to watch the condensed games later. Saves lots of time and I don't have to listen to the announcers. I do miss a few things watching the way I do in both sports but I'll live with it.
