The line between being a solid above .500 team (say 45-50 wins) and being at or just below .500 is SO thin.
There is lots to be discouraged by with these two horrific losses to Detroit, no doubt. But we aren't THAT far from being a really good team, despite all the injuries.
The things we are good at - like half court offense and defense - become more important in the playoffs.
I'm with FNG. The #1 thing that needs to happen, as is the case with any NBA team, is to stop having guys get hurt and to get the guys hurt back soon. That's up to the NBA injury gods.
Detroit is going to get Pist On (Wolves GT)

Everything is pointing to a hip pointer for Edwards. Its a real bummer of an injury, only remedy is rest. They probably need to sit him for a week or two. They certainly shouldnt be taking his lead on it as a 21 year old, even if he says he feels fine. Last night showed how much we need him in these games. Onto next year I guess.

If Ant is truly going to sit for a couple weeks, then it's time to get Moore Jr. in the regular rotation and see what he can do with sustained minutes. We may really need him next year and now that he's got his feet a little wet with spot minutes and has had some time in the G-League, we need to see what he can do over a longer stint of games.

Yeah I agree with that. I am not sure how they will handle Ant though. I feel like this organization lacks clout, and Im not sure who is running the show or calling the shots. Another year with a void of leadership.

I'd like to see Moore play some minutes when we are closer to full strength. If ANT is down we're going to need buckets from Nowell and he's going to need to learn the defense. Nowell used to get buckets, so he should get buckets again. He's broken right now

The Nowell thing is so frustrating. The table has been set perfectly for him to succeed, yet he has defied all logic. He paid his dues during his first two seasons with a combination of G-League experience and spot play with the main team. Then last year he finally got some regular playing time as a result of the Covid outbreak and played very well.
Then heading into his 4th year, his role was VERY clearly defined and he got regular minutes from the get-go.....and he has been an utter disappointment. Just wasn't expecting this level of incompetency from someone who really seemed poised for a breakout year. :-(

Interesting exchange with Chris Hine and Ant. Sounds like the training staff doesn't hold enough sway to hold him out. Ugly way to handle our most important player.

We simply have lost too many of these 'should win' games this year. Especially against teams clearly tanking. Even with these injuries we should have beating Detroit on both occasions. Simply not good enough. I don't think I can remember such an inconsistent TWolves team.

Agreed, these are just killer losses. You are going to have nights like this over an 82-game season. It can happen to the best teams. But you can't have 5 or 6 of them in the span of 42 games. Think of how much better position we'd be in the West right now if we had only 2 or 3 "bad" losses? It would make a big difference.
Assuming Ant is out for a period of time and given our other injuries, I think the best we can hope for at this point is that once/if guys all come back healthy by February, may be we can really make a final push and end the season on a high note, even if we just barely make the play-in tournament.

I hate to tell people this but injuries derail teams sometimes in a season. Like you said earlier to lip if Jmac, Kat and TP were out this long last year this team would've not sniffed the playoffs.
It's just happened this year to the twins. The twins were in first place for the first hundred games.
They were 4 gb of Cleveland and this was bottom of there line up in crucial games
Gary Sanchez
Jake Cave vs a lefty
Gilberto celsitino
Sandy Leon
Fucking Nick Gordon was batting 4th. This equivalent of having to play Matt Ryan. I have no doubt in my mind if the twins were healthy and Buxton and Killroff were healthy they win the division. But they weren't so they were a .500 team
