Good win. Minott definitely gets the game ball. Moore Jr. had a nice first half, then kind of faded in the second half. He definitely plays under control and has a nice looking stroke, but I was not impressed with his ability to stay in front of guys. Not good since defense is what will get him on the floor.

Josh Minott's post-game interview was really good TV.

Ant, Jaden and Naz are there as well. Any excuse to be in Vegas right? Lol

Ant isn't even 21 yet

Moore Jr. and Ant are the same age, lol. Ant turns 21 about a month before Moore does. Crazy.

I used to go to the Vegas summer league yearly and I remember the year DeMarcus Cousins was drafted, I walked past some night club and he was standing outside with Tyreke Evans and Hassan Whiteside. All too young to go in.

Just finished watching the game. Fun stuff.

Man, Minott was a blast. He definitely showed more offense than I'd assumed he'd bring based on his Memphis tapes. I still don't know if I'd want him putting it on the deck too often, but his handle was better than I thought. He's obviously a threat cutting to the rim or from the dunker's spot with his vertical explosiveness. I'm still a bit skeptical about that outside shot given his form (he clanked the 3 pointer he missed badly despite hitting the other 2) but his soft FTs are a good sign for his outside shot. I think only one of those 4 FTs actually touched the rim, and even that was just perfectly soft off at hitting the back of the rim as it fell in. It's a nice, slow shot with good arc. That really could be a good sign for his 3 pointer if he can get that to translate. And I was really impressed with the bounce pass he had under the defense to a cutter at one point actually. I figured defense would be his strength, and I still think that's where his tools are best suited. He looked a bit better off the ball than in on-ball defense to me, but he was definitely disruptive and used his length well on defense. There were a couple questionable decisions he made. The Dirk-esque fadeaway from the baseline was not a good shot, and on D, there was one play where he just tried to grab a rebound vertically instead of boxing his guy out which would certainly have gotten him the rebound. But those are quibbles for a second-round pick who just had a great game and looked like the best player on the floor. Man, I especially love the energy, especially on D and on the boards, and he definitely showed some more offensive skill than I was expecting. And yeah, what a positive character! Love that pick. There's a long history of guys having huge summer leagues but flaming out. Anthony Randolph. Tsiktishvili. And other guys ended up being more average than you'd hope based on Summer League. Randy Foye was the summer league MVP. But you gotta like what you see out of Minott out there, especially given how valuable long wing defenders are. Kid, work on that 3 pointer and you could be special!

Moore had a more quiet game obviously, but I did like that he didn't seem rattled by the speed and intensity of the Summer League D. These games are so often really hectic and sloppy because the teams don't have much offense, and every guy is out there defending his ass off trying to make something happen because for so many of them, this might be as close to their dream they'll ever get. Moore didn't seem rattled by that, which is good. He didn't seem to be able to really create much of anything off the dribble when the defense was set and plugged-in, but that wasn't really the expectation for him. He did take it to the rack a few times and showed that nice Euro-step even when he didn't finish. He just seemed to take what the defense gave him in general. Defensively, yeah, there were a couple times when I thought he could have been better, but he looked ok on that end. It's tough to say with Summer League ball. I wonder if his game might not be as well-suited for this kind of playoff-style atmosphere as Minott's is. That's not a great sign, but I don't think it means he couldn't potentially step in and play regular-season minutes next year if needed. The team just seemed to play more under control when he was out there, which was nice to see. A potential sign of poise and maturity there, even if he doesn't have the big physical or energetic upside of a guy like Minott.

Spagnolo looked fairly invisible out there. Definitely had that one embarrassing defensive play where his got guy him moving backward and just bumped him to get the easy layup (that Moore was a bit disappointingly slow in helping on). Hit a nice 3 pointer, but didn't see much else from him.

I'd never heard of Harris until Lip mentioned him the other day, but that guy was fun to watch. Some nice finished at the rim, especially that dunk! If he's going to get a 2 way, I assume it's his on-the-ball defense that will be most important there, and I saw some positive things from him, but I didn't quite see the quickness you'd hope to see from a defensive PG. I'll be looking for that in the next game.

All in all, that was a lot of fun!
