I agree completely, Cool. I'm concerned if Connelly is even considering him. Hopefully, this is just Doogie being Doogie.

He wants to try the old 25 offense, starting a 5 at all 5 spots!

JonK just posted an article on who benefits the most on the T-Wolves roster:

https://theathletic.com/3396968/2022/07/03/rudy-gobert-blockbuster-timberwolves (requires a subscription).

He covers a number of people, but Russell is probably the biggest beneficiary on both ends of the court.

Yeah, I thought the dirk/chandler comparison was very good also.

Gotta give Jason partial credit for that one. :)

Can't even get credit for my own statements. Time for me to fade away again.

Sorry, hockey! Someone was making me skim over posts really fast in that thread, so I made the wrong connection.

I was just watching highlights of Dirk's 2011 Championship run, playing alongside Tyson Chandler and Brendan Haywood, and I can so see KAT in that kind of role, and able to do even more with his strength. I am really looking forward to this new pairing!

Nope, too late Tim, you're now partially responsible for me having more of my life back.

Great first impression from the press conference. I had not really heard any extended interview with Rudy before. I am sure a link to the presser will be available soon.

I enjoyed the part where Rudy said something along the lines of I'm excited to join a coach that complains so much about my screens.

On a more serious note, Rudy seems to be a stand up guy. This is exactly the type of person TC was preaching about when he first arrived.

Some may look at it like he cut corners, and I completely understand that view...but the more I learn about Gobert, the more I like this trade.

Will this trade blow every other timberwolves trade before it away...admittedly not a high bar...when it comes to shipping out or receiving established NBA talent? Time will tell....

Who's driving the bandwagon? Punch my ticket, I'm in.

I don't think anyone is against the addition of Gobert the player. It could be damn great. But, for that much? We damn well better do something special, because this was an all in trade. Or we just hired a complete dummy who stole 40 mil over 4 years.

People see Nowell's potential, and I agree. Was he signed long-term though preceding this move? His agent likely sees that now.

Jmac, Nowell, Moore, Prince, Reid back end. Not terrible. No rebounding, not great defense, potentially very good offense.

But we could lose 3 of them next year. Also Dlo.

Then what?

How many teams stay in a contention window more then a few years? Outside of having MJ, Tim and crew, or Lebron...whom seemed to make it to finals every year for a decade....this is our window.

One could argue that is why it is short sighted to give away draft picks 6 years out, as the past has taught us, this team WONT be the same in four or so years from now in one way shape or form.

I think the current nucleus could rival any team in the league on any given night. And that's only assuming last year's production with Gobert added. Look out league if Ant goes nuclear. And if Jaden plays like he did before he got injured at the end of the year? And if Gobert compliments EVERY starters game....ok sorry for all the capitalization. My excitement can not be contained...

Enjoy our dominance.
I'm ready to eat a full bowl of crow if that time comes.
Let the brain trust fill out the roster and figure out how to restock the cupboards so we can have sustained success like Bob Myers and the warriors do.

Grab a ticket!
Get on board!
Unless you hate fun...

I do not trust KAT not wanting to play a SF type, barreling into people, then throwing up his arms. I do not trust any PG defender here to not force Gobert being abused on switches, only for KAT or Jaden to try to recover and foul.

Obviously I love if it works out as a Minnesota fan, but if it doesn't, shit we just got set back another decade.

I thought we were almost there, building for another 2 years. Got KAT signed. Let Ant, Jaden, Bolmaro, Kessler, Moore build. Sign JMac and Nowell to a price. Let Beverley, Prince, Vando keep setting the tone, build the culture everyone keeps talking about.

Shit, Ant has to be the man here, and he is barely older than 20. MJ didn't make that work, LeBron did not. Nobody has.

Plus you just pissed off a vet who seemed to like it here decently, who has a loud mouth around the league.

No need to apologize, WallyWorld. The excitement is justified in my view. We're entering an unprecedented period of Timberwolves basketball where the roster is as good or better than almost every team in the league. I also tend to think this is the best collection of talent this franchise has ever had top to bottom and it might not even be close. If that's not worth some capitalization, then I don't know what is.
