Injuries aside, Chris Finch is failing this team.

They all suck blow it up.

Ant played selfish.

After the first Q Dlo sucked ass

Mcdaniels with no offense

Rivers shot is gone again

Matt Ryan 1 skill is shooting and he was 0-3 from 3

Naz struggled and turned his ankle

Anderson was the definition of meh

Nowell was in fucking la la Land all game defensively

Gobert can't dribble, teammates don't pass him the ball, when he contests a shot the team does not rebound when he doesn't contest the opponent makes the shot.

I'm ready for rebuild number 2000. This time no pick every other year (I don't blame the wolves for going for it).

The team does not play like a team. And it sucks. Dlo super inconsistent, Ant is statistically the worst passing player in the NBA for players who have his usage, Nowell is a selfish piece of shit.

Happy NYE. Same shit different year. Just a team of selfish dummies

I wonder what Quin Snyder, Terry Stotts, or Mike D'Antoni are up to these days...

As Wolves fans we should have keen spidey senses as to when a season is over. Those senses have been tingling for quite a while.

Ant is doing what he has to do surrounded by teammates he can't count on. As a 21 year old still learning the game and developing, Ant is doing his part to make something of this season. For all their faults, Edwards, DLO and KAT were at the core, and Finch the same head coach, of a team that won 46 games last season and took the second-seek Grizzlies to 6 games in the playoffs. Tim Connelly came along and depleted the team's overall talent and depth by trading Vando, Beverley and Beasley for a highly-paid defensive role player. The result was a team with less overall talent/depth and an inferior mix of talent. Finch didn't suddenly become a bad coach and Edwards didn't suddenly become selfish. DLO this season is the DLO of last season.

The difference this season is the roster and that's entirely on Tim Connelly. Shortly after the Wolves hired him he said his goal was to stay out of the way and not screw things up. He then proceeded to do the opposite by throwing a ridiculous and completely unnecessary long pass into the end zone that nearly every NBA expert in the nation thought was a dumb move. This is Tim Connelly's roster. He took a 46-win team and replaced key rotation players (Vando, Beverley, and Beasley) with Gobert, Forbes and Rivers. Oh, and he also traded away the Wolves top pick in this year's draft along with 4 of their next 7 first round picks without protection. Last season's team should have been improved surgically and methodically once Connelly and his front office had the chance to fully observe the team in action over the course of this season. Connelly made a really bad decision and as with early all bad decisions he's getting a bad result. It really is that simple.

I'm probably more frustrated than anyone on this board, but even I know that the last thing this team should do is panic and blow things up. That's the sort of reckless approach that got us into this mess in the first place. The problem isn't Edwards, Finch, KAT or Naz. It's not even DLO as frustrating as he can be. First and foremost, this team needs to move on from Gobert before his value plummets even lower or goes to zero because of a serious injury. Second, the team needs to consider other moves, including the possibility of moving McDaniels.

I agree with much of what you say above, Lip, but I would argue that Chris Finch should absolutely be on the hot seat. Who knows if he gets fired, but there's a very real argument that he should be given where this team is right now in the standings, how they got there, and the cumulative talent on the roster. It's inexcusable.

Dane Moore suggests that a players-only meeting took place after the game. Would love to be a fly on the wall if that's the case.

We'll just have to agree to disagree on Finch, Cam. I'd feel differently if the Wolves front office hadn't fundamentally altered the roster and created what I and most respected NBA observers considered a poor mix of players from the moment the Gobert deal was announced. Finch was a terrific coach last season and has been a highly respected head coach among his peers for a long time. He didn't suddenly become a poor coach. He was suddenly handed a poor mix of players and that poor mix has been compounded by losing the team's best player, KAT, along with injuries to important rotation bench guys Prince, JMac and Anderson (who's been plagued by back spasms all season).

Firing Finch would align with what NBA organizations often do in circumstances like this. But I think it would be a mistake in this instance given what I consider to be the incompetent personnel decisions this new front office made last summer. They dealt Finch a bad hand last summer. They need to deal him a better hand before they dismiss him from the table.

The only thing I like about this team is Ant and given their salaries and youth, McDaniels and Naz. I'd trade the rest of the team, plus Finchy and Timmy to recoup our lost draft picks and rebuild around Ant. Nothing changes with this franchise, outside of Flip, we haven't had one GM that was good (though Newton was great by not doing anything stupid). Rudy is a complete bust and unfortunately, KAT and DLO's sucky defense, helped lead us down this path, so I'll be glad when any of them are shipped out. Time to fire up the 2024 draft thread so there is something to look forward to.

Will Finchy be canned before the end of the year. At this rate, I'd say yes. Timmy has to scapegoat someone and he probably won't fire himself (though he should and might even earn him a modicum of respect).
