Re: Wolves vs blazers GDT
I'm not suggesting that this loss is on one or two players, but we have to get a lot more from Anthony Edwards and Jaden McDaniels. 19 points (17 from Ant), 3 rebounds, and a combined 7-20 shooting from the floor just isn't going to be enough on most nights.

I think youre right. I always balked at the idea that Ant should get so much scrutiny and Jaden has pretty well skated by. Both needed to make leaps this year. I think with Jaden you have to squint even harder to see the progress, because his stat lines are often brutal and many nights his fouling takes him out of the game.

the lack of anyone young showing they can contribute positively is the antithesis of everything Connelly was supposed to provide this franchise.

Yeah, pretty depressing showing last night. Too many nights the other team has by far the best perimeter player on the floor. And Gobert can only do so much.

Not to pile on Jaden, but one of the things I noticed about him last night in the 1st quarter is that he was going over Nurkic screens when they were being set a good 5-10 feet behind the 3-point line. I get that Lillard can get crazy hot at times, but early in a game, do you really think he's going to be launching 35 footers? Go under those damn screens. Go over them when they are set close to the 3-point line. It's the details this team is just terrible at.
Re: Wolves vs blazers GDT
I turned this game off early in the 3rd quarter...first game in the no-KAT era which wasn't at all fun to watch. Gobert was dominant, DLo was hitting his mid-range, and SloMo played his usual effective game, but the rest of the team was just trash. I suggested that SloMo might replace Jaden in the starting lineup when KAT returns, and games like this support that move. If Jaden is only going to get 1 rebound and 2 points in 28 minutes, and not have much success defending Dame, how does he stay in the starting lineup? Okay, I understand that Finchie doesn't have a suitable option with KAT out and I give Jaden somewhat of a pass because of Dame's brilliance, but there were a couple possessions where I honestly couldn't tell if we were playing zone or man...the rotation was that bad! And Jaden and Nowell were the worst offenders as opposed to the usual culprits. Just a terrible game from both of them, and Ant may have been worse.
Hard to find a silver lining in this one...

Can someone tell me why Jaden McDaniels left Damian Lillard wide open in the corner to help on this drive? Plays like this happened all night, and not just from him. This team just does a poor job of sticking to shooters. Trust your teammates. Stop over-helping. And that goes double when it's Rudy Gobert in the paint.

Ya it was not just him. 2 plays Nowell did the same thing one guarding lillard and one guarding hart.
It's been an issue with multiple players still year

The defensive IQ of this team is horrible. At some point, the coaching has to be held accountable. 20th ranked defense with a generational defender anchoring the middle. Unacceptable.

Absolutely right. And as I've harped on for most of the season, the offensive philosophy hasn't matched the personnel so far either, or at least not until his hand was forced. Overall, Chris Finch has failed this team and he should be on the hot seat, especially with Quin Snyder and others readily available.
