He has done what Thibs, Butler, and Taj couldn't do and that's change the defensive culture of this team. Obviously it helps that he has some capable sidekicks like Vando, McDaniels, and Okogie. I also think the scheme they use is more suited to our player personnel. But the key is getting the trio of Ant-DLO-KAT to be net positives on that side of the floor, or at least not the train wrecks they have historically been.
Watch out Q you might get in trouble saying a change coaching scheme and philosophy has helped this team be best wolves defensive team in years. I've been told coaching doesn't matter at all. It's almost like a coaches job is to put his players in the next position to succeed and with our big three on defense Finch has done that this year.
I agree 100%, although I refuse to give CLQ stallion jester a "like". I agree with Q that PatBev is our MVP so far by almost singlehandedly changing our defensive culture. But Finch has a role in this also. For the second consecutive game, I winced when KAT doubled up top on the initial offensive play of the game allowing an easy bucket for the opposing center. But Finch encouraging KAT to avoid the drop defense and press the action up top has produced terrific results. And I'm guessing Satoransky had nightmares last night about Mr. 94 Feet getting up in his grill all night. I don't think any guard in the NBA looks forward to playing against him.
I'm sure I'm not alone being on pins and needles wondering what our defense will look like when PatBev inevitably goes down. We have to hope the culture change trumps his on-court presence, but concerns are still valid.
