The NBA trade deadline was February 10th. Malik Beasley is 21-49 (42.9%) from three-point range in the seven games he's played in since then. Obviously, that's a small sample size that is also boosted by his 6-9 performance last night.
Beasley's season has been inconsistent to say the least. We know he started the season in a slump -- shooting 32.7% from three through the month of November. He showed signs of life in December (36.5%) before laying bricks in January (32.7%). He shot 46.2% in the shortened month of February and hopefully he maintains some of that as we finish the season, but you never really know what you're going to get from Beasley. He has one NBA skill that is above average and it's hit or miss on most nights.
The appeal with Josh Richardson wasn't that he would be a better shooter than Beasley, but rather he would be an overall upgrade. Richardson is a much better defender, finisher, and shot-creator than Beasley is while also being an adequate perimeter shooter. When Beasley's shot is off, and I've illustrated that he goes through streaks, he provides absolutely nothing of value. Rather, I'd argue he becomes a liability when his shot is clanking off the rim.
