He did a great job, and I'm happy for him. Bet the win total under next year.

Yes, congrats to Thibodeau. He got that Knicks team to overachieve - something he did with the Bulls but was unable to do here.

I agree with you here. Outside of big RJ Barrett improvements i can't see them making the playoffs next year. It's really hard to grind out multiple season where you have to go all out on D to win games. Also think Randle will regress next year (still will be solid just not all NBA)

Thibs did a nice job there is no doubt about that.
The Knicks have a pretty healthy chunk of cap space. They also have these FA.
Rose
Bullock
Noel
Burks
Taj
Payton
Frank'N
Rose how much do they pay him?
Bullock isn't going to be cheap as a 3 and not to bad on D guy.
Burks is going to get a decent amount of money from someone.
Noel will cost some money
Taj maybe he just signs cheap
Payton they might not even bring him back.
Frank'N might leave or they bring him back relatively cheap.
Do they overpay any of the guys above? Do they bring back enough of those guys above that it keeps them from adding another true high impact guy to the roster? They are in a good spot to build up the team or...possibly screw up an opportunity. Even if there is a stigma about Thibs the fact that they were a winning team this year will probably help them some when it comes to FA.

Alec Burks has been with 5 teams in the past 3 seasons. He signed for pretty cheap in GSW in 2019 (2.4M) and then $6M last offseason. He's 30... so he doesn't have many money-making years left. I think at best... he'd be looking at $20M over 3. But that seems like a reach.
I know injuries were part of the story... but I always thought he was a bit underappreciated.
He's also developed a decent stroke. He's shot at least 37.5% on threes in all of those stops over the past 3 years. He's not a guy to build around, but one of those depth guys who a team can plug in when needed for 25 - 30 mpg a night and get you buckets.
No idea why he's been kicked around so much recently despite the relatively small contract.

I agree with all you said. I agree injuries were part of it and I think for a while he wasn't very good defensively. He also has poor 2 point shooting percentages so maybe that hurts him. He still missed games this year so that's going to keep his number lower.

Wouldn't mind Bullock as an upgrade to Okogie as our backup SF. I presume he'll be pursued by a lot of other teams for a similar role.

There are 2 questions about Bullock
1. Will he stay healthy?
2. How good of a defender is he?
The answer to the first question is probably not.
The 2nd question...I'm not sure. If he is just solid on defense that's valuable if he is healthy because he can hit the 3 but for a guy with injury concerns and his age idk what kind of contract I would be comfortable giving him.
