NBA Rookie of the Year - Who Should It Be?
NBA Rookie of the Year - Who Should It Be?
Make your choice among the three finalists:

I voted for LaMello with Edwards coming in second and Haliburton a distant third. LaMello was the clear choice for me even though I'm really high on Edwards after watching him the second half of the season. While Edwards was more durable and scored more points per game, LaMello beat Edwards in every other statistical category, including rebounds, assists, steals and shooting percentage. You can make a case for Edwards based on his improvement over the season and his durability. But LaMello has to get the nod in my view.

I voted Ball. Edwards was a disaster the first half of the season when it comes to results on the floor I don't think it was necessarily bad for his development because he obviously worked through a lot of things with all the reps he got. But he actively harmed the team in the process with super inefficient shooting on high volume.
ROY needs to consider the entire body of work and Game 60 is no more important than Game 10. Ball was pretty damn good out of the gate.

Given the pandemic where both players didn't get a Summer league or a real training camp/pre-season it's really not fair to any of the rookies as far as getting them ready for the NBA. Ball was the best rookie the first half of the season by a fairly big margin, Edwards was the best rookie of the 2nd half by a large margin. Assuming Ball played enough games I think they give the rookie of the year to Ball. Rookies need to play a certain percentage of games to be rookie of the year, I'm not sure if he played enough games. I think 3-5 years from now Ball is an allstar player and Edwards is a superstar. For some reason Ball seems like he is going to have injury problems throughout his career. I could be wrong on that, but looking at his skinny frame, they way he plays and the injuries he has had in high school, playing over seas and in the NBA. Than again guys like Bradley Beal seemed like they would be forever injury prone and later became durable.

Ball will likely get it because of the constant media attention from the onset. Edward does deserve it in my opinion.

That's right Ball did what he did with less time to get prepared for the season and he has hardly played games the last couple years. That's impressive. Considering that he might have more upside than people are giving him credit for now. I'm not totally convinced he is a stud but he had a pretty good rookie year all things considered and it could be an indication of things to come.
His durability could be a question. He doesn't have a lot of miles on the tires but he also hasn't been through any type of lengthy seasons before this year. Hopefully he can stay healthy.

It's difficult for me to make a case for Edwards based on any objective full-season measure, so I have to go with Ball. That said, Ant's trajectory the last half of the season makes me even more certain that Rosas made the right choice at #1. I don't really give a damn about ROY...I'm quite certain Ant will have by far the best career of this year's rookie crop, and that's what really matters.

I'm giving it to Edwards, he had a horrific start but lamelo ball finished out the season missing 20 games, coming back for 10 and playing like ass. They each had virtually half a season with no or bad stats so I have to give it to the guy who comes on strong at the end in Ant.

Ball ended up winning it. I think if he didn't come back from injury that Ant would have won. But this could be a good thing for the Wolves. Could give Ant a little more motivation to come back next year and crush it.
