That team could score 200. Like the creativity.

I think spacing would be A+, everyone out there outside of Curry at their peak was elite on D, also everyone has played great team bball

Love your selection of Curry. In retrospect, I might swap Stockton for Curry for my team. I thought about Duncan as my C or PF. Hard not to include him. Interesting that I'm the only one who selected Hakeem at center. I think he's generally under-appreciated. In my view there are 4 centers who are in a class by themselves as the elite of the elite:

1. Wilt
2. Kareem
3. Shaq
4. Hakeem

Russell and Duncan are the top of the next tier in my view.

Hakeem was my #2 pick

If the team is playing in today's NBA with today's offensive efficiency and refereeing, I think that does indeed change the makeup of my team a bit to consider the floor spacing you need these days.

Curry - the greatest shooter of all time.
Jordan - the greatest player and may be the greatest competitor in any sport of all time
Kawhi - on this squad he'd be the ultimate 3 & D wing that would guard the opposing team's best player. Also a 38% career 3-point shooter.
LeBron - 2nd greatest player of all time
Rodman - greatest rebounder of all time and top 10 defender of all time.

Basically Jordan, Leonard, LeBron, and Rodman could switch onto anyone. Curry is the only one that is a bit vulnerable defensively but his shooting would be so invaluable with a prime LeBron and Jordan slashing to the hoop.

Hakeem or Kareem or Shaq are all awesome, but you simply don't need a great post-up player these days. Rodman proved in his prime that he could do battle with anyone in the paint. And with Leonard, LeBron, and Jordan as your wings and none of them having to shoulder all of the offense, they'd be tenacious perimeter defenders.

Magic
MJ
Pippen
KG
Olajuwon

Seems crazy that I don't have Lebron, but I don't see a need.

I really like this team. But I also want to root for it.

And having an all-time great team without Larry Bird seems weird. Is he better than James? No. But he's such a versatile player that I'd still like to have him... and he'd be good for the mythical locker room. I don't need any "who's team is it, Jordan's or James'" messing up team chemistry.

Who would you have as your 5-man team. As I see it, it's not necessarily the best five players of all time. I see it as five great players who would fit really well together and stand the best chance of beating someone else's best five. Here's mine:

PG: John Stockton: Great defender and facilitator who was also an elite 3-point shooter. Imagine an elite S. Kerr.
SG: Michael Jordan: Greatest scorer of all time, probably best player of all time and possibly best defender as well.
SF: Scottie Pippen: Great defender and great all-around player. Already know he fits well with MJ
PF: LeBron James: 2nd greatest player of all time. Also great facilitator, so he could play well with MJ
C: Hakeem Olajuwon: Great at everything. Best C of all time in my view. Averaged nearly 4 blocks per game in prime.

I can't imagine another group of five who could beat this team in a 7-game series.

Note that I didn't select what I could consider the best player at each position. For example, there's no doubt in my mind that Magic Johnson was the greatest PG of all time. I don't think I'd even rate Stockton #2. But he seems like such a perfect fit with MJ. If I chose the best SF of all time, it would be LeBron in my view. But sliding him to PF allowed me to include Pippen who we know was a great fit with MJ.

What I love about this group of five is how tremendous they would be defensively.

Hmmm...hard to beat that starting lineup....but I might compete with 3 phenomenal 2 way players that can switch .. and a potent inside out game.

1. Curry
2. Wade
3. Butler
4. Garnett
5. Shaq (or Ewing just to piss off Hakeem)

For today's game, I would go.

Curry - Kobe - Jordan - Bird - Olajuwon

Bench - Iverson, Reggie Miller, Magic, Rodman, Nowitzki

This would be a lot more interesting if we went non-HOF players or even non-all nba.

I'd love to hear what you came up with for some of your suggestions. I wonder if there would be a reasonably good lineup of guys that never made an all-star game
