I want to say I know you hated the draft, I get that and I appreciate all the hard work you put into the draft. This draft will come down to Edwards vs Wiseman. I don't think Rosas was an idiot for selecting Edwards. I think Wiseman has to be heads and shoulders above Edwards to kill him. We will see and once again thank you for all the hard work you put into the draft it does increase the value of this board even though we have disagreed through most of this draft process.

Cheer Cam!

Thanks for that, kek. I hope Anthony Edwards figures it out and becomes every bit of what he can be. The tools and talent are there.

If Edwards is closer to 6"6 now and at 230 lbs, that is easily small forward territory in terms of size. I wouldn't rule him out playing minutes on the wing with Rubio/DLO or Rubio/Beasley or DLO/Culver, etc.

It's really not in 2020. He's not gonna be posting up on the block or getting backed down at the 3. He's gonna be chasing lanky 6-7 to 6-10 guys who can shot the ball with high release points. That's what 2020 SF's are in the modern NBA. He's going to play some SF, but I have doubts how effective he can be in that spot defensively with how most of the guys he has to guard are built these days.

Small ball fun and gun with Rubio back? I like the PJ Tucker idea. He can play center too.

Nice analysis, Kekgeek. I think your assessment is thoughtful and fair. And while I disagree you you for the most part, I sure hope you're right.

One thing that really bothers me is his teams (Georgia) plus minus with him on court to off. Thats really worrisome to me. Also our culture on our team is so terrible. Hear murmurs that Russell didnt want to play with Lamelo and Kat didnt want to play with Wiseman. That stuff angers the hell out of me. Im not a Ball fan but I would want the best player to be on my team and we will make it work whoever that is. Also I hear we moved up to draft Bolmaro so we wouldnt have to spend the money qnd would have more cap room available which I also hate.

That said I like the upside with Edwards and really think he could be great. I just hope he wants it bad enough. I love Rubio as we all do but we just have too many guards. I may be in the minority but think we need to keep Beasley and give hima shot. He looked really good last year and can really shoot it. Help him get his head on straight.

Just dont see how our current lineup wouldnt have looked much better as Russell Beasley Johnson Wiseman and Towns. Saddiq Bey off the bench and ready to replace Johnson after the year. Now we just have a hodgepodge of guys and we are talking about Layman and Vanderbilt and Juancho at our 4 spot. Just hard to wrap my head around what the plan is here.

That doesn't surprise one bit about Kat and DLo, both are clowns in my opinion. Them as our foundation worries me more then anything, and bring any young developing players in with them as our leadership is scary.

monsterpile wrote:A different way to look at Bolmaro is would you have liked it if they traded #25 and #33 for a 2021 pick? Yes it's a different draft but that's kinda what they did. He turned 20 in September. As for his shooting...he did shoot well from the FT line the last 2 years including 89.3% in 16 games this current season. Some of these guys in Europe play pretty limited minutes so the sample size can be not exactly perfect. He has probably played against better competition than Ball and Hampton did last year for a couple years.

I'll disregard his Liga numbers, because frankly I dont give a shit.. Even though it was the same.

His Euroleague minutes and numbers went down from year 1 to 2. That is not good.

I don't know if I'd refer to them as clowns, but I have the exact same worries you do. I think this is a bad foundation and culture to bring a guy like Edwards in to.

Im warming up to the moves made on draft day. I like Edwards. He is my clear cut number 2 behind Wiseman. I understand the red flags people see in him. But edwards is a elite of the elite athlete with superstar potential. He is just not a freak athlete like wiggins or oladipo, he has a great body to go with it. A rare combination of power and athletecism for a guard. He also has good ballhandling and passing skills.

Like keek mentioned, He will have KAT, saunders and rubio around him and they all have gone tru or is going tru the same thing amongst them. That is a pretty solid support group.

I like rubio coming back as well. This is STILL dlo's team to run but rubio maybe the best backup pg in the league now and you know he will get the most out of our bench crew.

I know nothing about about the euro guy and Mcdaniels is a boom or bust pick. I dont see an in between in him. He either proves to be a rotation player in 2 years or out of the league in year 4. I was hoping we could swap those 2 picks and get a late first and 2nd next year but I think teams value the next draft more than this years late 20's picks.

One of the things that's sort of a mixed bag positive about Edwards is he shot over 50% on 2 point shots. I haven't found complete shot charts but it looks to me like he didn't take very many long two's. He didn't finish at the rim at a high percentage but it seems like he doesn't have the Wiggins disease of taking a bunch of inefficient long 2 point shots. Half of his shots were 3's. Yes just jacking up 3's can be bad but I'd rather have that than bad shooting from long 2's. He is comfortable taking those shots.

It's worth keeping in mind the College 3 point line moved back starting in 2019. So Edwards was shooting 3's over a foot longer than previous college class was shooting and now the jump from college to NBA 3 will be shorter. So that actually makes some of the 3 point shooting from other draft picks even more impressive because they were shooting from farther out. I would be interested to see how many deep 3's Edwards was taking.

Wiggins seemed to take years to be taking deep 3's and still didn't take the volume of 3's Edwards did in college. Let's Say Edwards is sort of a Wiggins who doesn't bring it all the time but...if Edwards is a modern version of Wiggins and is so from the start he would likely be more valuable. Just some things to think about.
