Re: Around the league thread
Domantas Sabonis is soaring right now, I haven't seen a lot of him lately but I'm hearing he's the best big man passer not named Jokic, and has put on major muscle. He has eliminated almost every one of his flaws, if only we got to see his dad do the same in the NBA...

Sabonis is a guy a number of us on this board really liked coming out of Gonzaga. But he had a miserable rookie year with OKC and then got traded to Indiana as part of the Paul George deal. You talk about a 2nd year jump, it's incredible the progress he made. And keep in mind he got plenty of minutes at OKC and was just terrible as a rookie.
The other guy that perhaps even more crazy suddenly got really good after that trade was Oladipo. He spent his first four seasons as an average-ish starting SG that was solid defensively, but a pretty inefficient shooter and scorer. Then suddenly he gets traded to Indiana and in his 5th season explodes into an all-star caliber lead guard at age 25.
That might be one of the best 2-for-1 trades I've seen in recent memory.

It was largely to how he was used. OKC tried to make him something he was not as a rookie... a three point shooter.
33% of his attempts were behind the arc. Only 28% of his shots were at the rim. With Indiana his 2nd season, they used him as the big he is... and 47% of his shots were at the rim... and only 5% of his shots were three pointers. He's taken more shots at the rim every season since.
Like others, I remember digging him in college. And then he DESTROYED the bigger Jakob Poeltl in the NCAA tournament. Sabonis was so much more physical and relentless. He simply destroyed Poeltl's will in that game. Yet, Poeltl went ahead of him in the draft anyway.

The 2nd worst roster in the NBA lead by thibs just moved to 4-3. Can't tell me coaching didn't matter
Re: Around the league thread
Watching the warriors and kings game and Green has yelled at Wiggins twice for missed defensive assignments

He was a good coach in Minnesota but we didn't like his yelling and how we won games. We aren't cursed we are stupid. We pick nice people over winning games

LOL, Thibs gonna Thibs...Plays Randle and Barrett 43 minutes each and sticks to an 8-man rotation in non-OT win over Hawks. The guy does squeeze every drop out of whatever stone he's been handed.
