Re: Around the league thread
His screen setting is a problem for the whole team. He just doesn't commit to doing it right. It's one huge difference between KAT and KG, KG would push the envelope with every screen he set. He made the refs call him for illegal screens, and then he would get even more egregious. He knew they weren't going to call him every time.
I'm a stickler for spacing the court, setting up the screener, and then setting good screens. My teams are the best at it. Watching the nonchalant way so many NBA players set screens drives me nuts.

Ryan Saunders and his merry band of "learning to lose" players have a new goal: Can they match the embarrassment of what happened to the Pelicans last night?
The Pels entered the 4th quarter with an 11-point lead and proceeded to lose by 18 points to the Suns. A 41-12 4th quarter.
I'm sure Ryan, Ricky, KAT, and others can figure out a way to make this happen.
Just Do It.

A great observation, Cool. And also prophetic, considering KAT's illegal screen down the stretch last night against Toronto.

Another phenomenal game from Zach LaVine tonight. He scored 38 points while hitting 15 fo his 20 FGAs, 3 of his 6 three-point attempts and all 5 of his FT attempts. He also had 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals. He's averaging over 28 points 5 rebounds and 5 assists per game this season, hitting over 50% of his field-goal attempts, over 40% of his 3-point attempts and over 85% of his 5.5 free-throw attempts. None of this should be a surprise to those of us who watched him while he was here.

You're underestimating Thibs, WF. He's was playing the long game with the Butler trade...basically playing chess while we were all playing checkers. He knew Zach would never warrant a max contract and Wig would, so he kept Wig...knowing that at some point he could match contracts and swap Wig for D'Angelo Ru...
Yeah, you're right...he is a moron :) .

I feel bad for Kris Dunn. He was rehabbing from Dec. 29 ankle surgery when he started to experience knee soreness. Here's an excerpt fro a recent article on Kris:
"Dunn underwent an MRI earlier this week and, following the results, the veteran guard underwent a PRP (platelet-rich plasma) injection to address right knee discomfort. Following a two-day rest period, the Hawks say he will continue his return-to-play rehabilitation plan from his right ankle surgery, though no timeline is available for his projected return to the floor.
After signing a two-year deal that includes a player option, Dunn has not appeared in a game this season. He was recovering from a right knee issue when he signed with the Hawks, though the ankle issue arose during the 2020-21 season."
Looks like the right knee issue Kris was recovering from before the ankle injury is still an issue.

What was interesting to me in the Pelicans/Celtics game is how Lonzo Ball was used. Similar to Rubio, he is more of a pure non-scoring PG (although certainly his shooting and scoring is better than Rubio this season). Throughout crunch time late in the 4th and throughout OT, he basically brought the ball up and got it to Ingram or Zion, then got the hell out of the way, never to see it again.
If Ryan is going to insist on going with Rubio at crunch time, he needs to actually get creative and start drawing up plays that gets the ball out of his hands earlier in the shot clock. It's not that hard to get KAT in isolation.
