I actually can't believe how much the Wolves got for Covington. He has really fallen off.

I don't agree with the takes on Rob Cunningham. While he's not expected to provide much scoring for a team with lots of offensive firepower like Portland like he has with previous teams, he is the defensive glue on the team and their second most valuable player after Lilliard. GMs are willing to give up a lot for him because they know he consistently makes his teams better when he's on the court. Tonight he is the only positive +/- player on the floor for Portland, and I believe his +/- led the team in their upset in game 1. And it's not a fluke, as he ranks second to Damon in +/- for the season. Rob does the little things that coaches and GMs love, and that's why he gets 32 minutes per game on a winning team when his offensive stats are underwhelming. I wish we still had him on our roster.

In no way do I think Covington sucks. It's hard though when Covington is at his 2nd lowest ppg of his career and only shooting 40%. Also there is always context to those numbers you are posting. Covington has played about 3700 possessions with Lillard and about 800 without Lillard this year and Covington is a +6.6 when with Lillard but a -2.2 without Lillard. Feels like Lillard really skews Covington numbers. Once again it's good that Covington plays well with the Blazers best player.

Just think if you look at it Covington has been traded for an All NBA player in Butler. Then traded for Capela and and Pokusevski. Then traded for 2 future 1st one that has became Isaiah Stewart and one next year.

I think Covington is a good player for sure but he has his limitations and he is in my option not worth what he continuously gets traded for

Covington shot 37.9 percent from 3 and Portland had the 2nd best offensive rating in the NBA. He isn't on the floor to score. On the other hand Portland Was 29th in defensive rating so...maybe they will bring Back Vanterpool to fix their D next year. :)

Those are kinda two different things.

We have to judge the return for Covington on who he was when traded... not who he is now. The trade was "fine." I wasn't a huge fan of the trade at the time because of the uncertainty with Beasley. But he was resigned for a decent amount and has been a good three point shooter for the Wolves.

Will he have more value in a trade this summer than Covington had last year? I dunno. I kinda doubt it.

Kinda ok 3 and good D wing vs. good 3 and pretty bad D wing.

The Wolves also got a 2021 1st round pick out of that deal too. Of course they also got Juancho who played well after the trade last year and now is an overpaid bench player but only signed for 1 more year. Ultimately at this point the Wolves right now seemed to have gotten good value for him which is fortunate because it doesn't always work out that way.

Lets put in another way...Covington would easily be the best PF on this team. Note a number for other teams have seemed to have problems in this area too and have given up quite a bit to help solve that situation. Aaron Gordon, Covington Jeremi Grant got paid last offseason. Again it's not like it's going to be easy for the Wolves to just add a PF via trade.

I have a love/hate relationship with Jimmy Butler. I love how he plays the game at both ends and admire what he did with the Heat last season, but I still harbor some lingering bitterness about his final weeks with the Wolves. Even if he was right about Towns and Wig (and I think he was wrong about KAT)- it's kind of like your relationship with your annoying little brother. He bugs the crap out of you, but if someone picks on him on the school bus, you'll fight to defend him.

So I'm letting my bitterness rise to the surface as Butler stinks up the court in the playoffs. He essentially lost the first game for them with his poor shooting and untimely turnovers (even if his basket with time expiring got them to overtime), and he was terrible in Game 2 also. But never count Jimmy out. He may still bring them back in this series.

Clippers are about to fall down 2-0 in the 1st round. Kawhi can become a FA at the end of the year.

*rumors are Kawhi is interested in the Heat, if true the west would be getting a little easier

Haven't watched much of the game but if you are going to double when Pat Bev is on Luka what is the point of having Pat Bev out there?
