Also record wise, the Wolves were tanking last season and after Thibs was fired. Do you honestly think they were all in trying to win games when they would sit players for weeks for "illness."

If you think the pinnacle of greatness as a Wolves fan is getting crushed in the first round then that's pretty sorry in my mind. I'd rather suck and have top picks then float in that mediocre range.

I'm with FNG in that the Thibs season even with a winning record wasn't that fun. What was fun was when KG was here and we went to the conference finals with a realistic chance to make the NBA finals. Getting smoked in the first round isn't my goal as a fan off this team then having Butler blow the team up in epic style.

I wanted Thibs fired AFTER we made the playoffs and I wanted Butler traded for a draft pick PRIOR to that draft with a target being Doncic. I posted on here about doing both. No hindsight needed.

You're the perfect fan for the worst franchise in NBA history.

The fact is as a Wolves fan we're not getting LeBron type FA's any time soon so the only way to get them is in the draft. So tanking has to happen otherwise you'll limit yourself to mediocre likely picking 12-20 every year. It's extremely rare to get a top 5 elite player in that range. Giannis is the rarity.

Yep, this is what annoys me. It would be different if the Wolves had a long range of solid success and then wanted to tank when they are over the hill because it makes sense. The Wolves have been mostly shit for 16 years. Teams have had playoff success/tanked/then rebuilt again in that time.

Im so sick of watching shit basketball. Hey hopefully Edwards can change that, hopefully the wolves can get a top 3 pick next year and that player can change that. Just like Williams, Love, Towns, Wiggins, Bennett, Culver, Wes Johnson, Rubio, Johhny Flynn, Lavine, Foye, Dunn all changed the outlook of the wolves organization. Wolves are so close to be title contenders because we have sucked for all these years, Im happy tanking really payed off.... oh wait we suck still, oh wait we have a rebuild of another rebuilding about to happen again. FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!! (I am not saying you shouldn't draft players high because on average better players get drafted higher but all this shit has really paid off in the last 16 years).

Tanking only works if you can also draft right and maybe get lucky in the right year as well. Hopefully Edwards is that guy.

If your name is not Curry, Kawhi, Lebron, or Dirk you didn't win a title in this last decade. The 2x MVP was selected in the mid of the 1st round. The Raptors just won a title wiith 0 top 10 picks on their roster.

There hasn't been a #1 overall pick to win a title with there original team without moving to another team 1st since Tim Duncan and Tim Duncan is the only player to do this in the last 20 years

We had 4 number 1 overall picks on our team between 2014-Present. Bennett (sucked), Wiggins (inconsistent), Towns (Good), Edwards (TBD). How many other teams have had that many high picks in that span of time? Face it. The draft is not the answer for this organization because they fuck it up most of the time. Every time we tank for the top pick it's in a draft where that guy hasn't been a franchise game changer. You have to do the scouting and find those guys as of late which means you don't need to lose as much as possible to get them because they aren't going at #1. For every Zion, Simmons and KAT there's been an Ayton, Fultz and Wiggins. Why would you create such a shit culture for the 50/50 shot on top of needing to win the lottery in the first place that the number 1 pick is actually a franchise game changer?

Yep. No other fanbase gets that many cracks at #1... and/or... so many cracks at multiple max contract guys on the roster at the same time in their primes..

... and still thinks the best play for the franchise is to keep tanking... hoping and praying for another star.

[Note: At least I can't think of any. Please share if you can find one.]
