Maybe they're just trying to bring in legit professionals who know how to play at this point.
Whether you like the talented young kids or not... there's simply too many in in too many critical roles to win games right now.
Even though they're all on the same timeline!!!!!!!!!!
The problem for me is that Minnesota's already shown a willingness to overpay for veteran players that aren't necessarily game-changers. That trade for Ricky Rubio was legitimately bad on draft night and it only looks worse now. There's no telling what Gersson Rosas might put on the table now that his ass is closer to being on the hot seat.
Exactly right, Cam. Rosas was making bad deals (overpaying) before he was desperate. Any deal he makes now before the trade deadline will likely be even worse. If I were Glen, I'd veto any deal Rosas proposes to make by the trade deadline, unless he can get a 2021 1st round pick for Ricky. Then I'd remind Rosas that this is the team he built, with the head coach he wanted, and that he had better make it work. At this point, you just can't trust Rosas to make any significant deals this season. He hasn't earned any trust and the fact that he's probably desperate makes trusting him even more problematic.
Rubio hasn't been good no doubt but he has still been better then James Johnson. We complain about Ricky 3pt shot well James Johnson has been worse. Also we traded a mid 1st for 2 1sts and I think the whole board thinks mcdaniels is a good player. Who the wolves drafted in that trade and it's still a wait and see with bolmaro (who knows bolmaro could be a legit rotation piece and all of a sudden that trade was amazing)
Still a good trade in my book, even though Ricky has been bad. Still think it is a slight upgrade on player in Rubio vs Johnson, even with Rubio playing bad. When it becomes middle of the 1st round I would rather have 2 shots at getting a good player. Also Ricky becomes what Johnson was for us last offseason a big expiring contract for a player that still will have some value.
Do I like Rosas, no. Did he hit a home run, no. Did he acquire the right player, I would say no. But with all that still think it trade is solid and the Wolves still "won" that trade or the for sure didn't lose it.
I also think it's idiotic for an owner to veto trade/power from his POBO. That worked out well with making Rosas hire Saunders, that worked out well with Taylor not allowing Thibs to trade Wiggins so he traded lavine instead, that worked out well with not allowing Thibs to deal with Jimmy how he wanted to and instead traded him for cov and saric instead of the rumored 4 unprotected 1sts what were rumored from the Rockets. (Oh look the Rockets have the leagues 3rd worst record right now). I don't think an owner should ever veto a trade when it comes to player evaluations (if it comes to lux tax sure, i get the veto). If you don't trust the guy you hired, then fire the guy, plain and simple. Don't chop his arms to do the job how he wants to do it.
