We gained a player who we rarely see play with our best player.
Essentially wasting 2 full years.
Meanwhile Wiggins is not missing games, and is playing at a pretty high level.
Russell being out really sucks, but Wiggins would never put up the defensive effort here like he is with the Warriors. Feels like the national media glare is forcing him to give a shit for once.
I will say Wiggins still has not been good. Its mostly media narrative that Wiggins is this improved player Wiggins, he has a lower Pts per game, Asts per game, Rebs per game, Lower BPM, OBPM, PER and just a slight lower Vorp this year then his last year with the Wolves. He is shooting the from the field more efficiently and hitting the 3 at a career best (He is shooting around 50% these last 2 months from 3 what is not repeatable).
The Warriors are being outscored by 3.6 pts per 100 possessions when Wiggins is on the court compared to when he is off it. In every lineup Wiggins is apart of they are getting outscored by 3.2 pts per 100 possessions. In lineups without curry with Wiggins in them its one of the worst lineups in the NBA getting outscored by 12 points per 100 possessions that is in the 5th percentile of all lineups. In Curry lineups with Wiggins they are outscoring opponets by 1.5 pts per 100 possessions but in lineups with Curry that he doesn't have to play with Wiggins they are outscoring opponents by 5.9 pts per 100 possession and whole 4.4 better when he doesn't need to play with Wiggins.
Wiggins is not making the team better at all, in any metric.
Now Dlo numbers are terrible and worse then Wiggins. The one huge upside is with the small sample size of when Dlo and Kat play together. In lineups of Kat without Dlo in them they are getting outscored 2.7pts per 100 possessions but Kat with Dlo they are outscoring opponents by 2.6 per 100 possessions. So Kat is 5.3 pts per 100 possessions better when he is playing with Dlo compared to not. That is a significant number. When Dlo, Kat and Ant all play together they are outscoring opponents by 36.3 pts per 100 possessions what is in the 100th percentile in the NBA.
Dlo and Kat numbers together on the court is a very small sample size but there is significant data that suggests that Curry is worse when he plays with Wiggins and the Warriors are worse when Wiggins is on the court. There is small sample size that Dlo and Kat make each other better and Dlo, Kat and Edwards could be an elite lineup combo. Once again super small sample size but in the small sample size it is positive direction. We just need to see them play for a extended period of time.
