Who should Wolves draft at 19?

Jean Montero. I'm looking for someone who will eventually replace D'Lo and doesn't have to be shoehorned into the lineup.

My do not want list is headlined by Blake Wesley. Just not interested in someone who struggled at everything we'd need from him

I don't necessarily hate Jean Montero as a prospect, but I would be miffed if they took him at 19 over who's likely to be available. That would be a reach in my book, especially given the strengths and weaknesses of this current roster, and a bad overall first impression of this new front office.

Take a flyer on him at 40 if you like, but I expect better and more reliable talent to be available at 19.

I agree with Cam on this one. I'd be ticked off if he went at 19. He's projected as a second rounder and I like both TyTy and Chandler much more at 19 as far as point guard candidates. I even like Andrew Nembhhard more if we are considering point guards at 40. His teammate at Team Overtime was Dom Barlow and I think he's overall a better prospect in the second round. If the Wolves drafted him at 50 to stash him, I'd be fine with that.

None of those guards are better than Montero.

TyTy's only real selling point is that he went to Kentucky. When he was bad, he was an undraftable player. Kennedy Chandler is Tyus Jones at best, which is fine if we're trying to replace McLaughlin, but starting PG remains unsolved. I want D'Lo gone as much as anyone else, but his plus skill is that he's a really good facilitator. Montero to me will be a better facilitator than those guys.

Huh? The appeal with Jean Montero is that he's supposedly a score-first point guard. You're drafting Montero with the idea of him putting the ball in the basket. Facilitating is largely considered to be one of his very real weaknesses. Maybe you see something different, which is fair, but that comment was surprising to read.

I think he's the best PG prospect in the class (better than any of these PG prospects in an admittedly weak class). I just think his biggest downside is that he's coming from an institution that nobody can accurately judge, so he is a guinea pig.

At least over the next couple of years, we're entering a big dry spell in terms of the PG prospect pool. Not a whole lot to choose from unless you're deep into tanking for someone like Scoot next year. The year to get that guy is now and I don't wanna leave it to chance. If you wanna use the 2nd rounders to trade up into round 1 again, be my guest, but at the 40th pick, I don't wanna place the expectation of that guy needing to be the future PG of my team. That's asking a lot of anyone, but I'm not seeing other ways we can add a future PG to this team that doesn't involve having to grit your teeth and your keep D'Lo.

Actually, the best PG prospect in the draft might be Dalen Terry, a wing with an 8'10 standing reach who has the ball-handling and passing skills of a PG. He averaged 5.1 assists on a 36-minute equivalent basis. I'm not impressed by any of the "true" PG prospects in this year's draft. If the Wolves are drafting for talent at #19 and #40, then they'll have a number of options with more talent than any of the PGs available when when they're on the clock.

I don't mind drafting for talent. I'm not even picking need over talent in this instance, but I absolutely don't wanna draft someone to play a position unnatural to them. If he's not a PG by trade, don't think you have the personnel to shoehorn a player into something he isn't. We can't do that with the guys that are already here. Otherwise, Jaden McDaniels would be the guaranteed PF of the future and we wouldn't even be considering the Tari Eason's and EJ Liddell's of this class. Leandro Bolmaro doesn't have a position anywhere, which makes him useless until he does. When this franchise proves the capability of teaching lesser players to adjust to a new position, then they'll have the green light to do that with better ones. Until then, why trust them?

Actually his decision making is the skill that everyone believes will translate. The scoring aspect of his game is what some are skeptical about because he isn't the most athletic guy. Scoring is what he likes to do, but the passing is what he has to improve the least out of what he has. His ability to get guys involved will work anywhere. The scoring will be predicated upon whether he can function against bigger comp.

What is surprising to me is how high Dalen Terry is on this list. I do not think he is the 22nd-best prospect in this class and personally do not have a first-round grade on him.

Additionally, I think Ryan Rollins, Justin Lewis, and Walker Kessler are first-round talents. I would move them up higher on his board.

I hink he has Ousman Dieng way too high at #9. I also think he's overrated Patrick Baldwin at 20, Kendall Brown at 23 and Orlando Robinson at 27. I think he's underrated Daniels at #10and Jalen Duren at #17.

I actually think he has Kalen Terry underrated at #22. He has the length of PF with an 8'10 standing reach and the ball-skills of a PG. He's a terrific defender and passer. He has a high basketball IQ. His only weakness is shooting; yet he hit 50.2% of his FG attempts and 36.4% of his threes, admittedly on low volume. Perimeter shooting and physical strength are his only weakness, but they're minor and fixable. He's also apparently viewed as a good kid who loves the game and plays hard. If he's available at #19 the Wolves should grab him there instead of any of the other players likely to be available then. The other two I'd consider at #19 right now are Wendell Moore and Jalen Williams. I really like wings and guards who can handle the ball and shoot 50%+ from the field.

Im going Jovic. He seems like he would be the most fun. For this iteration of the Edwards wolves, I would rather us solve our issue at the 4 for size and toughness with a grown man. Lidell may be the answer there too long term, wouldn't hate that pick. But I love shooting for the moon with prospects, especially if its at 19.
