I'm just gonna continue to say we give Petr Cornelie a deal and see if he makes the team

C Towns /Kessler /Reid
PF Vanderbilt /Prince /Cornelie
SF Edwards /McDaniels /Moore
SG Beverley /Beasley /Bolmaro
PG Russell /McLaughlin /Nowell

Minott on two way

Interesting Wright won't be back

That's too bad in my opinion. I thought he looked pretty good in Iowa and was truly the best player on the floor most nights. His shooting and overall game did start to wane a bit as the season progressed. And at the same time that was happening, Jordan McLaughlin turned his season around and cemented his status as a key player off the bench for the Wolves.

Can we please start a season for once where half the roster isn't struggling like hell to make a shot!? Beasley, Prince, McDaniels, and McLaughlin....all these guys were so damn cold for an extended period to start the year.

That's definitely a bummer about McKinley Wright not coming back. Our PG pipeline right now is pretty thin. We should have signed Montero.

1. Release cap holds on Okogie and Layman, allowing them to leave as UFAs.

2. Sign Kessler & Moore to their rookie-scale deals

3. Give Minott one of our two-way deals

4. Give the other two-way slot back to McKinley Wrights

5. Keep Spagnolo overseas in Italy

6. Sign Jalen Smith using as much of Wolves MLE as needed - 1-year or multi-year deal

7. Re-sign Prince for no more than $10M.

My more ambitious alternative would be all of the above, except instead of re-signing Prince, we'd trade Beasley and Naz to the Kings for Barnes. Unfortunately, I think Cam is right that the Kings would insist on also giving up a future 1st and I woudn't be willing to do that for a one-year Barnes rental.

Let me help you with #6 and #7. The Wolves can get Smith for $0 of their MLE because they can get him for the VetMin. Seriously, IND declined his 3rd year, and no one (no offense) is talking about him. Taurean Prince will cost $2.43, which is the VetMin on a guy with 7 years experience. Prince's SF minutes weren't embarrassing, and if he's not difficult about it he can keep playing NBA basketball. But nobody's going to war over him.

Lol. Thank you for your help, Jason. I think the Wolves should pay as little as possible to sign Jalen Smith and re-sign Taurean Prince. :)

Glad I can help, and if you think that's the best way for MIN to use its last two roster spots, then Hallelujah.

Jalen Smith will get over 4.5 million a year because teams will have to pay over that get him off the Pacers. Also the Pacers didn't decline his 3rd option the Suns did because of Lux Tax reasons. Now I am in the camp do you want to pay a guy money for 20ish games of production in a tanking season and where we don't know if he is good or can play PF? Personally I don't want to use our MLE on that but Smith is going to get paid at least 5 million a year.

Now on Prince, Prince will get at least the Taxpayer MLE of 6.4 million a year because he is for sure a rotation piece on any team. He is still young, is a good vet and can hit 3s and has the abillity to put the ball on the floor. He will get at least 6.4 million a year.

Kek - I think you're right about what it would cost to sign Jalen Smith and re-sign Prince. In both cases, it will would likely require a salary of between $5 million and $10 million for the upcoming 2022-23 season. Prince can be re-signed using his Bird rights. Jalen Smith would require some or all of the MLE.

The Wolves have Prince's bird Rights. Heck they could give him a raise over what he made last year if they wanted to. Obviously that's not going to happen but they don't need to use the mid-level exception to sign him. They have an exemption to resign Prince...the Bird rights exception.

I was looking at some stuff last week and I did notice Wright's shooting did dip later on but he was also coming off a hand or Wright injury. I have to admit I'm disappointed he isn't coming back.

One thing I could see is that the Wolves might be going in on guards that will fit next to a high usage Edwards and therefore they can play a bigger player there than a guy like Wright who as much as I like him is pretty small.

For summer league there is no reason why the Wolves can't be playing Moore or Bolmaro as PGs and quite frankly it might make sense to do that to see what you have with them at that spot. Obviously McLaughlin is small and effective so he isn't going anywhere but It does make sense to some extent to pick a guy like Moore over a smaller player because there are also more paths to that player having success. I do have more believe in Bolmaro being an effective player than most on this board.

Meanwhile it seems like both 2-way spots are now open. It will be interesting to see how the Wolves fill them. Minott unless he blows people away like Naz did is a lock for a spot. NOBODY saw McLaughlin coming when he was on the Wolves Sunner league roster so you never know who will impress. Heck nobody thought Kelan Martin was gonna be kinda good either.
