If you sub Dlo for Murray, where do you think the wolves stack up in the West next year? I would say maybe 4th or 5th. Murray is a needle mover but he doesn't put us in legit title contention to lose roster flexibility for 7 years
- I'm likely in the minority here, but I would not trade D'Angelo Russell
or Malik Beasley plus Walker Kessler, Wendell Moore Jr., and a first-round pick for Dejounte Murray. That might actually be giving up
more value than simply trading Russell
or Beasley and three future first-round picks because of the variability of each draft class. Rather, I value the known prospects more than the unknown prospects. The decreased flexibility in terms of future picks and protections is secondary to me.
- I'd argue that the Wolves could contend for a top-five seed next season by simply running this team back with calculated tweaks -- ie. adding a veteran big that compliments Karl-Anthony Towns and/or a forward that presents an upgrade over Tauren Prince and Jaden McDaniels. I don't think Minnesota necessarily needs to make a big splash to make
that kind of jump.
