He is an outstanding 4th banana
I don't care what fruit you want to call him. He was good on both ends of the floor, especially the way he handled Luka. Well done.

I even saw him show some emotion out there in like the 2nd quarter. I liked those post ups he did. I thought he got so much better playing bigger in the paint on both ends the last couple seasons with the Wolves...except lack of dunking. I'm happy he is playing well.
If we really want to solve our rebounding problem, perhaps we should trade for Steph Curry. He lead all players in that department last night with 12 boards. The Warriors out-rebounded Dallas 51 to 35! I guess being bigger doesn't mean better on the boards.
Dallas is beginning to remind me a little of those Harden-led Houston teams that relied really heavily on iso-ball with a super high usage star in Harden surrounded by a bunch of catch and shoot guys. Luka is basically a bigger version of Harden in this case.
Seems like that kind of offense eventually runs into a team that figures out a way to stop it. That certainly happened last night. It's a long series though!

I hadn't thought of that, but you have a point. For me, it's more about the Warriors. I just love they way they play! Watching the Warriors play reveals the true beauty of basketball. I hope Finchy is watching and studying.

You make a good point but Dallas does have Brunson though and although he isn't good every game they also have Dinwiddie. Will they be able to find their defensive footing against the Warriors?

It goes back to the 2015 Warriors and that core 3 of Curry, Klay, and Green. None of those guys are elite in isolation, so they rely on off ball movement and quick-strike passes to create open looks. It is a thing of beauty.
For other teams, it's just more efficient to clear out and hunt for the mis-match - Kyrie, Luka, LeBron, Harden, Giannis, and probably Ant someday. Luka is just such an extreme, like Harden, that the offense really lacks diversity.

I agree, Q. The Harden model takes the mis-match iso approach to an extreme and that seems to be the model we're seeing with Luka and the Mavs. I see your point about the efficiency of clearing out and hunting for the mis-match when you have a great iso player, which you rightly noted could be Ant someday. But I'd love to see Finchy break the mold and blend that approach with the Warriors' ball-movement/motion approach. I've noticed that the Wolves tend to play that way when JMac is running the point.

Here is the other reality about a more iso-heavy approach.....it usually results in fewer turnovers. Running a motion offense is freakin' complicated and it's much easier to steal the ball or have errant passes when you are trying to ping it around so much. It's the one Golden State weakness.
The NBA is unique because it has the world's best players and a handful of them are literally un-guardable. So the Wolves are always going to look for ways to get KAT and Ant in isolation. That doesn't mean we stop running pick and roll or DOH actions or even some corner offense actions. It's just achieving the right balance. Golden State is truly unique.

Curry is the cheat code because he can hit a shot from literally anywhere and his off ball movement is ridiculous.
Getting back to the current playoffs I only watched the 10 minute roll of highlights/condensed game but it looked like Loney played well. When GS has their top guys healthy and playing well and a guy like Loney actually does stuff that makes them so much better.
