The Murrays and Identical Twins in NBA

Post by KG4Ever »

Keegan Murray is a projected high to mid lottery pick and deservedly so and his identical twin brother Kris Murray is slated to be a late second rounder who might exit the draft and return to college. If Kris Murray stays in the draft, I have to say I am a bit intrigued with drafting him with one of our latter second round picks as he has performed well when given the opportunity, plus he has good genetics. It got me thinking how many identical twins have been in the NBA and how close in ability and performance have they been. The biggest divergence that I can think of is the Lopez brothers. Brook Lopez made an all star game and Robin has been a serviceable backup, but never was the scorer or had the range of Brook. However, other pairs have been closer in ability such as Morris twins, Collins twins, Martin twins (Caleb and Cody), and the first set of identical twins the Van Arsdales (Tom and Dick, were both three time all-stars). There was also Horace and Harvey Grant. Who am I missing?

Andrew and Aaron Harrison
Travis and David Wear

Not really successful twin pairs, but you covered the others that came to mind.

Interesting thought, KG. You'd think identical genetics would produce identical caliber players. But for some reason it doesn't always work that way. But i like your theory about taking a chance on Kris Murray - perhaps with our #50 pick.

Even without the genetics angle, I like him. I know he has been trending up the board, so we may not have a chance for him with 48 or 50, but if he is available, i like him.
