This is mostly a joke. But it's being reported that lavine wants out of Chicago and he is a UFA. If he walks the the Bulls won a total of 1 playoffs game since the Jimmy trade and all 3 of lavine, Dunn and Lauri walked for nothing.
While Beasley, Vando, bolmaro, McDaniels (all 4 are pieces of Covington), Pat Bev (came from culver and juancho and those guys came from saric and Covington trade) and a 2nd this year are still threads of that Jimmy trade for the wolves.
Elite basketball mind from thibs, hahaha. There are rumors of the spurs for lavine because he is friends with Murray and rumors are he wants to be the #1 option still
Thibs won the trade!!

Thanks for the info, kek. Sort of a joke, but also true if LaVine ends up leaving. :)

Re: Thibs won the trade!!
It's been clear to me that Minnesota won that trade by acquiring a 28-year old All-NBA player for below expected cost, but they subsequently failed after the fact -- drafting Justin Patton, maxing Andrew Wiggins, failing to please Jimmy Butler, and then trading Butler for a less than ideal haul. Million dollar move with a ten-cent finish.
I'm unbothered by it because all of that led to the current nucleus, but there's an alternate reality in my mind where Minnesota becomes a legitimate contender had just a handful of things gone differently.

The Bulls did get a protected first from Portland when they did the sign and trade deal involving Markkenan. They also received a 2nd round pick in that deal but they are forfeiting their next 2nd round pick because of the NBA's decision about their contact with Lonzo Ball.

I agree, Cam. In the end, how poorly the Bulls have faired doesn't matter. But that's why kek's post was largely in jest. The Patton pick, maxing Wiggins, the poor handling of Butler and the below-market haul for Butler were all huge organizational failures. Thibs was a terrible front office executive. But at least this franchise has apparently landed on its feet. Nevertheless, there's the alternate reality to ponder where Thibs had done a far better job with the assets he had at the time.
