PF/big front court targets
PF/big front court targets
Ok here is the thread to name the player/s you would like to target in a trade or FA or maybe even a combination of both!
I'm still interested in Hartenstein depending on the price and what else the Wolves do. He certainly can't be the only move in the frontcourt.
I have said I'm not a fan of an aging vet or not for much money but Thad Young depending on the price (which he might get paid more than I would be willing to do) is a guy that I think would be an exception to that. He would be such a big upgrade even in more limited minutes and likely would be a guy that can help younger players out which isn't absolutely needed but it doesn't hurt. Because of his age I'm not sure anyone is gonna give him him more than a 1 or 2 year deal and that would be just fine for the Wolves looking to take another step. Adding Young may allow the Wolves to go/stay young with some other roster spots. Obviously they should still add someone with more size/rebounding to the roster.

Re: PF/big front court targets
We need to find the second coming of Nikola Pekovic. A space eater who can rebound and bully guys. Hopefully there's a draft and stash guy we can unearth with Zarko back.
Also, see what the international free agents can provide. Like I suggested in my kneejerk offseason thread, why not sign Petr Cornelie to a deal and see what he can add? Finch is a guy who knows how to integrate G League talent and make them useful. That's a good way to not spend much but still add rotation level players.

We need a starting big that can be a more reliable and physical presence next to KAT to start halves. Not sure a G-Leaguer or project big is going to cut it.

that's not really out there in free agency or, unless Mark Williams slips, in the draft either.
I was all in on Oscar Tshiebwe to be that guy but he went back to Kentucky.

Jusuf Nurkic
Andre Drummond
Isaiah Hartenstein
Mitchell Robinson
All these guys are unrestricted free agents.

This is basically the list of free agent bigs to consider. I'd add Derrick Favors to this list it he opts out of the final year of his deal, though it's unlikely he does that.
I'd also kick the tires on Jonathan Isaac in Orlando. I think he could be had for a fair or even favorable price given the injury troubles and the Magic's sudden accumulation of quality bigs. He's also signed to a below market value contract if he could get right physically. He'd be a tremendous fit, in my opinion.

Nurkic and Robinson will be out of our price range. Drummond can rebound, but watching him here, he's unplayable at times. He'd be like our Steven Adams.
Hartenstein would be worth looking at.

Yeah, Hartenstein is the guy I keep coming back to as well. Big, productive, young, and likely within our price range. We could commit to him and his agent a starting job, although I doubt he'd be out there to close out many games.

Yep.
Robinson strikes me as the best on that list by far, but I agree he'd be well out of the Wolves price range, which will be at the top of the MLE range (around $10 million the first year for a deal up to 4 years).
I think Nurkic would be a great fit for the Wolves. I also think he's gettable at the top of the MLE range because of his injury propensity. But his injury propensity might be a good reason not to pursue him.
I agree with your assessment of Drummond, but I think he'd fit well here because of KAT's versatility as our other big. And he provides what we need most -- elite rebounding.
That brings us to Hartenstein. I don't have as much confidence in him as I do Robinson, Nurkic and even Drummond to step in as our other starting big and deliver what we need - rebounding and interior defense. But I like his size and talent and there's no question he'd be affordable.
