The Hostility on this Board

Post by SameOldNudityDrew »

I started on the ESPN Wolves board in 2000 and migrated here when that board closed. 15 years almost. So I know a certain percentage of people come on here just to argue about stuff for the sake of arguing and being right (myself included).

Old farts like me might remember that the playoffs used to be the busiest time of year for our board. But that hasn't been the case for 10 years. Now it's undoubtedly draft night, trade deadline, and summer league. That says all you need to know about how bad this team has been and how much it has changed the way we think about this team. People have always argued, but it seems like as our team got worse, the disagreements have as well.

So my question is whether other people have noticed whether the disagreements and hostility on this board have been particularly intense this year. It seems like it to me.

Thad, AB, and LaVine have been the biggest lightening rods. And I've said this before, but I really think when we're arguing about Thad's value or AB or LaVine's potential, or the merits of the Thad-KG trade, etc., we're arguing more about our different philosophies of improving than about the actual players. I don't think Thad was either as bad or as good as most people made him out to be, but he just became the main talking point (or should I say arguing point) on this board for so much of the season.

I guess what I'm saying is that I think everybody should take a page out of the Book of Mook, take a hit from the highpost
. . . sit back . . .
. . . and take the long view . . .
. . . we're a bad team . . .
(Mook takes another hit)
. . . really bad . . .
. . . but there's hope for the future . . .
. . . what goes down, must come up . . .
. . . so enjoy the ride . . .

Pretty darn good advice Drew. The bold text rings very true to me. Thanks for the perspective.
