KG or the Miami pick

Post by alexftbl8181 [enjin:6648741] »

Flip has come out and said that he thinks KG is going to be way more valuable then that 1st rounder, so what do you think, is he right?

I think the pick will amount to very little. But that is just me taking an educated guess based on the history of the draft.

The 2013 draft, the non lottery picks ended up better then the lottery ones

Care to add a bigger sample size than 1 year that still has tons of time to make that statement false because of how young the players still are?

How many more rookie contracts + our picks can we really take on. Those are all guaranteed roster spots unless we just drafted a euro project. I like looking for a blended mix of influential vets and young talent.

Glad Flip is confident about that.

I don't think another NBA team could say the same thing. But obviously there are extenuating circumstances in Minny...

I thought he made a good move using the pick to acquire 26-year old Thad Young. Then he made it a bad move by dealing Young for 38-year old Kevin Garnett. At the end of the day, it's possible neither the pick nor KG have an impact on this team.

I said the pick because it is easy enough to sign KG in the offseason. Jeff Adrien would have been fine here this year playing PF for us. And that pick could have been used to land us a decent player at the deadline or traded for a future first.

Pretty easy one for me. KG really adds nothing IMO. The potential of a first round pick easily trumps whatever geriatric contribution he might make.

Flip has shown the ability to acquire young talent (Burke for Bazz + Dieng). There is nothing to make me believe he can't do it again. Picks in the teens will continue to be obtainable as far as I see it. I also believe that good 9 million/year players will be available too.
