I wonder what value we can get out of moving some or our role players. Out of that group I wonder what the list of players is worth in form of draft picks.

Role Players:
Martin - Late 1st
Pekovic - Late 1st
Shabazz - Lottery protected 1st
Dieng - Lottery protected 1st
AB - 2nd rounder

I struggle a little with the definitions, bleed, because to me "core" would imply guys who are critical to our success for the foreseeable future. By that definition, I swap Shabazz and KG on your list, and probably move Gorgui up too.

Finally, I know you're not on board with the Payne deal, and I admit that it's a big question mark right now. But like it or not, he's our starting PF for at least the next two weeks (except perhaps for Wednesday when KG might start) and perhaps the rest of the year, so he at least has to be moved into the role player category. And if he's healthy, I move Neal into the role player category too.

Core:
Rubio
Wiggins
Gorgui
LaVine
Shabazz

Role:
KG
Payne
Martin
Pek
Neal
AB

Filler:
Brown
Bud
Robbie
GR3

Wow, bleed. I think you are way off base!

Pek and Martin ARE part of the core. I don't see either one being moved in the next couple of years. It may not work out in the long run, but Flip didn't trade a 1st rounder for Payne just for the heck of it. He believes Payne will be part of the core. Dieng is part of the core. Shabazz is part of the core.

What about Bennett?

KG a core player. 38 years old and playing less than 20 minutes game while not suiting up for some road games. Might as well put LoBro on there too.

When I think core. I am thinking players Flip won't trade. He plans on building around. I say KG is a core player because he is not going to be traded at this point. He will retire here.

I am not sure Flip considers Shabazz and Dieng core players when he sees this team in the playoffs in 2017.

For example if someone drops in the draft to lets say 8-10 and Flip thought they are a core player and he could trade Shabazz and Dieng for him I bet he would. (I am thinking someone like Stanley Johnson)

By that definition I would put only Rubio and Wiggins in the core category. Everybody is available for the right price, but the price for either of those two in never going to be met, everybody else would be flipped in a heartbeat if Flip sees the trade improving the team.

Oh, and KG won't be traded not because the trade won't improve the team but because you don't trade your future boss.

Nucleus: Wiggins, Rubio, 2015 NBA Pick (Karl-Anthony Towns)

Nuclear Envelope: Dieng, Muhammad, Payne (still not sold, but we'll see)

Wildcard: LaVine (boom or bust)

Veteran Starters: Martin, Pekovic

Miracle Worker: Garnett

Dumpster: Bennett, Budinger

Roster Rounders: Robinson III, Brown, Hummel (my opinion on him has taken a 180 this year)

Impending Free Agent: Neal

Agree. Rubio and Wiggins - period.

Now I know we all hope others currently on the roster will be part of the core, but I'm not sure anyone has shown enough for us to say it with confidence. By the same token, that doesn't mean we should churn through players left and right. It just means we don't know yet on a number of guys.
