I get your point, but if he takes it with Brooklyn, I think it'd be fair to say he would have done the same here had we not moved him.

Help me out with something, cam (and others). Thad is due almost $10 million next year at his option...if he opts in, he collects the 10 mill and can become an UFA the next year, still at a young age. Why would he unilaterally agree to take $4 million less than he is owed next year? I'm missing something here because many analysts are saying he is going to opt out. I'm confused!

Yes you have it and here is the thing the wolves before all the injuries and thads mom passing away were looking like They had a shot at doing something. We planned for pek and Martin being hurt but Rubio missing all that time wasn't in the plan and then Thad wasn't the same player for weeks after he was away. Maybe the wolves wouldn't have made the playoffs but I think If Rubio would have been healthy Thad would have been a lot more useful on both sides of the ball even if his jumper was broke as it was.

Here is the deal. Will Flip get enough things right to turn this franchise around? What if Wiggins turns out to be a terrific player Bazz becomes a Spreewell type impact player and he gets it right on a couple other players that turn into legit above average starters or key rotation players? Some of these other little screw ups will be part of the business nobody even the Spurs don't get it right every time. I'm not trying to defend Flip just being a little realistic and somewhat optimistic about some of the moves he has made that look pretty good right now. We will see.

I don't see Thad opting out. He can make 10 mil next year, and then be an unrestricted FA when the big money is available. The timing works out best for him to opt in.

Nobody bats 1.000. That being said we weren't going to compete in the west if everything went right. Why not keep the first round draft pick and build for the future instead of getting a highly paid guy in Young who isn't quite starting material? We have great young potential, but trading two firsts for PFs, whom may not work out doesn't seem smart to me.
