Drat! I am late on this feud..err.. discussion. But I have something to say. And I am going to say it.

Anyone who listened to the press conference can tell Thad asked for a trade. It's obvious that opting out is not a financially sound move for Thad. But Milt said "Thad's people indicated they were considering opting out". Hello people! That's straight up talk for saying "I want to be traded!".

Next. I cannot believe how Cam, Cool and Alex (others?) refuse to acknowledge, even if they do not agree, with why Flip wanted KG. It's not nostalgia. It's not a hard-on. And it's not the on-court production. Flip says it plain as day in the press conference. It was an opportunity to bring a championship mentality to a currently young and directionless team.

The nostalgia and goosebumps are perks. It is the focus, intensity and championship mentality that Flip hopes to bring to this young team. It is an absolute unique opportunity that was only available because of KG's history with the organization.

So, you can continue to critique it. You can continue to disagree with it. But at least acknowledge what the damn trade was all about!

Not a great endorsement of the guy running the show now is it?

The other interesting note was this was being argued throughout the season as part of Thad's benefit. I am all for mentorship. I have seen it work wonders in many lives of people aged 18-25. This type of thing is worth investing in as a team.

Yeah but who knows if KG would be a good mentor? I certainly wouldn't bet on it given his lack of character.

Mehh. I already have acknowledged the reasons that are being sold to the fans and the media. Flip got KG right now, though, because Flip loves him. We could have put this off til the off-season and it would have been swell. He wasted an opportunity to convert a valuable player into a long-term asset and that's the part all of you are missing.

And while you can try your best to argue that KG is a long-term asset because of his wisdom blah blah blah, the 38-year old we acquired wasn't fair value for what he shipped out.

You can certainly say that. We did all want someone else to coach this team, after all. But kudos to Flip for recognizing the deficiency and attempting to address it.

Well this is why I get your argument. There is a real possibilty that his influence would be negative. I think he will be great though. He seemed to always have a knack to pump his teammates up / or punch them :)

KG was the heart and soul of that Boston championship team. And it happened to have the additional pieces necessary to get the job done.

Wouldn't it be cool for the Wolves young core to grow by leaps and bounds, with KG in a reserve role, over the next two years and contend for a championship?

Why just contend for a championship? We'll win the damn thing. This is a fantasy, right? Might as well make it a good one.
