Kinda ironic from you since rubio looks for pek a lot on offense And always try to het him going
They work well and seems to be fond of each other.

Pek is the best center on the team. We play better on both ends when he is in there and he works hard on offense to get position and fight for rebounds.

I wish he passes more though but he is a top 10 center in the league when healthy.

Gasol , Noah , Jordan, vucevic, Drummond, Jefferson, hibbert, bosh, cousins, Howard, asik, valancunias, horford, bogut, chandler to name 15 centers I'd take over pekovic.

OK, so what do you suggest we do about it?

Trade him for anything to get his salary off our team. I doubt its possible but thats what I want. I realize he's nearly unmovable, but I am sick of people here trying to talk him up. Call him what he is. Too many homers act like he is a top center in this league when he doesn't even do the one thing he's touted for very well.

My point wasn't about what to do with him, Q. It was about calling him out, and speaking on what he really is. I'd rather see Dieng start with pekovic off the bench, but that won't happen because he's getting 12 mil a year. He never passes out of the post, and I'd rather see more of the offense flow from passing, which dieng does well, then watch pek the black hole shoot 43% on bunnies.

I don't think Pekovic will continue to shoot 44% from the floor. He's never shot below 52% before. So it should even out over time.

He'll always struggle with length. His passing will leave a bit to be desired. And he won't challenge shots at the rim. He might not be "worth" $12M.

But the Wolves are better right now with him on the court. I don't think there's much debate about that. The contract is high. And the length of it was silly. He might be moved eventually, but to unload him just to dump him doesn't seem super prudent at this point. It's not like the Wolves are stuck in a horrible salary cap place or anything...

[note: now, if he can't stay on the floor, which is a huge concern, my stance on just dumping him definitely changes. but as long as he plays, he helps.]

Yeah, I agree largely with Abe's take. I went to only my third game last night, and seeing Pek up close made me appreciate more what a hard worker he is. The shooting percentage is a problem, but the fact of the matter is Pek is a very limited offensive player, and when the Wolves get him the ball more than 5 feet from the basket he is destined for failure. Pek needs to be given the ball closer to the basket, either by muscling for position and getting a nice pass, or working the PnR with Ricky. I now cringe every time the ball is delivered to Pek 10 feet from the basket. Ricky needs to avoid giving him the ball there, but Pek needs to learn his better option is to pass the ball when he is too far from the basket rather than trying something that has a 25% chance of success.

Summary: I don't think Pek's shooting is any worse than before...he's just being used differently.

I agree. It is more the opportunities he is getting. In person you realize how tough the shots he does take are. He is getting shoved and pushed and shooting over trees.

Anyone else look at Kris Humpries and think if that guy was nameless he would be a option for us as front court depth.

Pek just hasn't been the same this year. He NEVER passes the ball out of the post like he had started doing when he was at the top of his game. He's also always going to the same move, right shoulder hook type shot even when it brings him further from the basket or into more contact. I saw it last night, he turned to his left and ended up 8-10 feet from the basket vs turning to his right and very likely having a layup. It's strange. He also has that 10ish foot jumper that he never uses.

I recall rumors that the Wolves looked into him before he signed his most recent deal. Either way it's ridiculous that he STILL gets booed. People need to get over it already lol.

We all wanna see this organization build a winner but it seems u guys think that's possible holding onto such flawed players as the best players on this team. Aside from Wiggins can Pek , Rubio and Martin really be the building blocks for a contending team? I've always felt those three are better utilized as the 4th maybe third best player. I'm tired of waiting to see guys turn the corner, get hurt than get the benefit of another year to figure it out.

I understand the frustration, but I can assure you that we are a worse team with Dieng starting at Center versus Pek - even with Pek's sub-par shooting (which hopefully reverts to the mean as Abe pointed out). We simply won't get equal value in return for any Pek trade and there is no one on the existing roster that is as good.

I also agree with others that Pek has never been a great isolation post-up player. He's best utilized as a roll-man, offensive rebounder, and quick-hitter duck-ins. Flip insists on playing iso post-up ball with Pek and it just isn't his strong suit. There are certain matchups where it definitely makes sense, but not the latest matchups.
