Wild - I wouldn't worry about it. I came away from tonight's forum convinced that Flip seems focused on the PF talent in the upcoming draft. When he talked about getting lucky in the draft he added something about there being "2 or 3 special bigs in the draft." Actually, I think he should take Mudiay if available and Okafor is off the board.

WildWolf has said on numerous occassions the biggest problem with the Wolves is the losing culture. How do the young kids learn to break out of it? That is why he likes the KG trade, as do I. Here's a good article that Britt Robson re-tweeted...

If I remember correctly, you're a believer in LaVine, no? I know you're behind Rubio all the way, so I have to ask, why is Mudiay your No. 2 guy?

PS: I've been going back and watching more of Mudiay. I'm actually pissed at myself for not talking about him more because I do think he's a very good talent. I just couldn't take him over Towns. Towns has the ability to greatly affect the game without the basketball, and on this team with it's current makeup, that is a huge deal for me.

Completely agree...if Towns and Mudiay are both available when we pick, Flip needs to take Towns. And based upon Lip's report tonight, it sounds like Flip agrees.

Guys, on this topic I am 100% right. He must take the highest rated player on our board when our pick comes up. If he doesn't like the position that guy plays, he can trade down. But you have to be true to your board when picking this high. It would be beyond moronic to take a lesser player at #3 (example) due to position.

We talk about the importance of stats quite a bit on this forum. Well this is a case where they are really important. If one guy is available and ranked 2nd and you take the #4 rated player due to position, you have made a mistake that you may not recover from. This team is still developing. We don't know for sure what our true strengths are going to be. What we need are the best players we can get. Now all things being equal, of course a big makes a lot of sense for us. But don't take Sam Bowie when you know Michael Jordan is the best pick in your slot.

Cam -- Yes, I'm a believer in Zach and Ricky. But I'm also a believer in taking the best talent available when you are one of the worst teams in the League and trying to rebuild. Fact is, nothing is certain. We have all had confidence in the potential and development of various young players through the years, but no doubt all of us have watched some of those players fall short of our expectations. That's the nature of the beast. That's why smart GMs focus in accumulating talent during a rebuilding phase. If Towns is a better talent than Mudiay, then he's the guy to take. At this juncture I see Mudiay as the superior talent. honestely, I'm not particularly impressed by what I've seen from Towns thus far. But I'm also far from my final pre-draft assessment. N

I'm not so sure Mudiay isn't the #1 guy right now. If you look at total potential impact, he might be it.

All moot anyway because someone told me a couple weeks ago that we're a lock to win the lottery :thumb: .

I don't necessarily disagree with your premise, as long as there really is a consensus #2 and #4 based on reliable information. My problem is I don't think the experts are going to have enough data points on Mudiay to accurately project where he belongs in the draft. Basically they are going to have high school film and maybe a few games in Chengdu. That's why I pass on Mudiay, and I think why Flip does too.
