We are going to learn how to win, thanks to KG. It's not just "veteran leadership", which everyone seems to pooh-pooh. It's "championship leadership".

Liar, I was super excited the moment I heard this trade was a possibility.

It seemed like I was on an island at the time... You must have been on the other side! ;-)

Are u kidding me, Ive been here sticking up for KG after every negative post About him.

Yes, the defense has been markedly better. The number of open paths to the rim have diminished immensely! We'll see if that can continue against other teams.

I don't wanna be the buzzkill, but this Wizards team is without Pierce and Beal. They're very much shorthanded.

The Wolves just put a 20 point beat down on the Wizards. I don't care how short handed they were, this was easily the most impressive win of the year for the Wolves.

Not quite. Wizards without Beal and Pierce, and are in the middle of a tailspin anyway. Haven't played good basketball in about a month.

Not to mention we had wins AT Portland (extremely shorthanded) and vs Memphis (best team in the league) several weeks ago. Both more impressive.

There was definitely a lot of energy tonight from both the fans and the players, but John Wall looked disinterested and starting the game down 15 points doesn't do much for me on a scale of impressiveness. We did get it going, kudos to our second unit for clawing out of that emotional rough start.

PS: Wiggins is a stud and The 3rd Quarter Man. Mr. 3rd Quarter. Mr. 3Q. Something like that.

Here's a copy/paste from the "possible" KG trade thread we had before KG waived the no trade clause:

I'm confused...when did Rubio get thrown in this deal? Just off the top of my head...players who should hold more value than Thad...

Wiggins
Rubio
Dieng
Shabazz
Pekovic
LaVine
and arguably Martin

Anyway, I know we'd have to put a suicide watch out for Coolbreaz, but I'd love to see the trade. I think Flip plans on not re-signing Thad anyway next summer, and use the cap room elsewhere...so might as well have a little fun and maybe a little more leadership, and I'd love to see a Rubio to KG alley-oop

Camden, I think we'll agree to disagree on the most impressive win thing then. This is the first time all season where I felt the Wolves played not only with energy on defense, but also with coordination on defense. Those other wins were against better teams in tougher situations, but this team needed a game like this where they get a dominant performance that was so decisive that it couldn't be mistaken for luck. There was no doubt about it this game that the Wolves were the much better team on the floor. I'm a firm believer that games like this can help a franchise turn the corner.

On a side note...I sorta wish we traded for KG last year...can you imagine how much fun it would have been to watch KG get on Love to get back on defense? Maybe Love would have become a complete player.

Yeah, I get what you're saying. Blowout wins feel good, but I'll take a one-point win over Memphis over a 20-point smacking on a banged up Wizards team.

Flip tried to get KG in the Love trade, but Brooklyn wasn't ready to punt the season.

Yeah, we looked like a completely different team defensively. Rubio + KG makes such a massive difference. Good to see.

Yeah, I think I read that too about the KG in the Love trade thing, but I thought part of it was that KG wasn't ready to give up on the Nets. Would have been really special to get KG back in that Love trade...I was at the Wolves presser where they introduced those guys at the State Fair...just imagine if KG was part of that. It would have been even more crazy.....but really...can't complaint about this either.

I actually think the timing is perfect. Imagine if we have kg at the start and still went tru the injuries to rubio, pek and martin with wiggins not yet being ready. It could have gotten worse than it did with kg being able to handle 25mins a game and no one to work with. The timing is perfect with the starters healthy and wiggins blossoming.

What? There are a total of 150 starting NBA positions, not remotely are all, or even many 1st round picks starting caliber players on a playoff team. I would bet the percentage of players drafted in the middle of the 1st round that are playoff starters is minute. Payne doesn't have to be the Wolves starting PF of the future to be a worthwhile addition to the team.

You nailed it, SP
