Shabazz this year

It is really insane how good he has been this year. I was always behind him and was ecstatic when we drafted him. But when you look at his numbers he exceeded even my expectation.

Here's his shooting breakdown:

By far does the most per minute of anyone on our team. I am curious if everyone is starting to re-evaluate his ceiling. I think at this trajectory it is hard to not think of him eventually being a potential all star.

I can't say with absolutely certainty, but I can't remember anyone on this board doubting his talent. I remember people (myself at the top of this list) concerned about his integrity and decision making due to the age-lying thing. I don't know if "Slim Calhoun" still contributes to this board, but he said he lives in Portland, met Hersey Hawkins, who had a role with the Blazers at the time in the "Mentoring" department, who said they would not be drafting him AT ALL because of that. And Shabazz has been quite frank that his turnaround has been related to improved diet, so there's that.

Long story short: The concerns were fair, and he has done a good job to this point of overcoming those. And Flip moving down when knowing he would still be there was possibly his best move as GM.

One last thing: Don't forget that Shabazz is BDA.

There were doubts about his talent maybe not by you but certainly all over this board and other places. Including but not limited to his ability to shoot, dribble, pass, and be athletic. There were also the personality criticisms as well. I am just curious where people are evaluating him now.

Not nearly the shooter Redd was. I'm interested in why you said that, though.

Yes I know not nearly the shooter yet..but if he developed his job shot it would be probably the best player he could become.
In the prime of his career, Redd averaged over 20 points in six consecutive years, shooting at least 35 percent from downtown in each one. Like Muhammad, Redd was a shot-maker, and though he wasn't the greatest one-on-one scorer, he was able to separate, rise and fire at any given moment. Redd was also an excellent athlete who could finish on the move and hit off-balanced shots. He complemented a lethal perimeter game with the ability to attack the rim and finish with touch. But most of all, Redd had that dangerous ability to heat up and score points in bunches. Sometimes the rim must have looked like a hula hoop.

Okay, so your logic was good. The "heat up" point was fairly true for both. It's just HOW those players got their buckets is very much different, imo.
