He was taken at 15 and is already 23. His ceiling was a rotation player at best as is. He wasn't playing much for them this year either. A first round pick no matter the protection is still more valuable on the trade market than a 23 year old rookie so they get a better asset and we get someone who can help us sooner than that pick. It's a pretty even trade for both sides.

and yet we still may draft Towns due to the lack of stability at the position.
Lets wait and see how Payne pans out, also if Thad keeps up this play, he probably worth the pick, we will see
Yeah, I'm all turned around right now. Very strange day. Nervously excited
I am right there with you, woj thinks we are buying out Neal also. What a weird day and I don't have a clue if we won the trades or not. One of the most exciting nervous days in awhile
More on Atlanta and depth--they open a roster spot for this season (Ray Allen?), gain a 1st round pick back, and open a long-term roster spot for Walter Tavares, who I think could be a really, really nice center for that team. Danny Ferry is running an absolute gem of a franchise....well aside from the racism.

Yikes!! Why do we keep throwing 1st round picks away. Bud? Webster? Two on Wes (one drafting him and one discarding him)? Heck we could have signed Hassan Whiteside who we brought in to evaluate for nothing.
