This board is ridiculous. Has anyone seen Payne play in College, espically his last year? This guy has all the tools and IQ to play and play exceptionally well for us. I like the move, plus I like knowing we basicvally got a last years high pick for a possible non lotto 2017-2020 pick. Like Popovich's Spurs, Atlanta plays minimal players, and Payne got zero love. I welcome this dude with open arms and hope that Flip continues to push for more. His ability to play inside, outside, stretch the floor with his outside shot and play solid defense with quickness is a solid pick up in my opinion.

Rubio, Lavine
Martin, Neal
Wiggins, Shabazz
Young, Bennett, Payne
Pekovic, Dieng

Thanks for the info, Tim. However, when it comes to Shabazz, at least he was a big-time scorer in college. So it made sense to draft him as a potentially good NBA scorer based on his actual college performance. Moreover, Shabazz put up his college numbers as a freshman. I just think Flip got too cute or cocky here, using film evaluation as the primary basis, if not sole basis, for his decision rather than using film evaluation and "eye-test" as a check or filter for evaluating the player's actual statistical performance. That approach is particularly problematic when evaluating a 4-year college player.

Here's the media session with Flip. Nothing big, but interesting none-the-less.

Why would Flip make this trade if he actually believed in Bennett? That's what I'm trying to wrap my head around.

I think Izzo had a lot to do with this pick. Time will tell. Lots of reason to be concerned. I still wonder if you would have offered the same deal for the Rockets T Jones if they would have taken it as another asset. I would have felt better with that move.

I'm not lip, or flip, but Thad is the obvious choice to be moved with his option this year. Martin will likely hold the same value next year, with less time on his contract. I'm all for moving young for a 1st or a prospect.
