I know you're disappointed that Bennett may not end up in Minnesota, but we're getting a good player (certainly better than Bennett) to be our power forward. And by the way most, including yourself, talk about Young, he definitely is underrated. He's no star, but he's not a "bottom of the PF pack" player at all.
Cam, take a look at the stats I just posted, and tell me how you can say he's not bottom of the pack. He scored some points last year, but there weren't many other options on Philly and he didn't do it very efficiently. 55th in TS%, 67th in rebounding rate. Those are vital areas for a PF, and Thad just doesn't measure up. I am not anti-Thad and really appreciate some of his "hustle stats" as you posted yesterday (steals, defensive plays). I want him on my team, but I don't want Flip to give up much for a guy with his stats, and I'm trying to provide some balance here. He's a fine role player, much like Brewer, but let's not make him out to be something he isn't.
That whole Sixers team ranks bottom of the league statistically. We can talk about his TS% and rebounding rate from last year until we're blue in the face, but at some point you're going to need to use your eyes and watch the guy play ball. I take it from your posts that you haven't watched Young very much, if it all, and that's why you're stunned that a player from the Sixers with his advanced stats has value. And yes, you seem to be very anti-Thad. He can't play defense, he can't shoot, he can't rebound, he's undersized, he's being compared to Derrick Williams when he has no reason to be, etc. These are the things you have been saying about him.
What exactly is giving up "much" for Young? Bennett? Please, let's not get back into another debate about the star potential you think he has. A first rounder from Cleveland? Memphis or Miami? All three picks look to be mid-to-bottom of the round, unless Gasol leaves Memphis in the future, but that's not guaranteed.
Keep in mind the last time you tried to "provide some balance", you said Cleveland would be unwise to trade Andrew Wiggins and pieces for Kevin Love, which I will not be able to forget for some amount of time. If you don't like Young, then that's fine, but please don't play it off as providing balance as if me or other posters are hyping Young up without reason.
