Boy oh boy. We're still that high on him?

Cam -- If you can't see Bennett's talent enough to see him as "POSSIBLY" significant to this team's future, then I'd like to recommend you see a good optometrist. :)

She passed away about a year ago. He was really impacted by losing her.

That is cool. One thing for sure is that Payne has super high character. So again, I'm hoping that Flip and his coherts see things that strongly suggest a level of NBA productivity/impact from Payne that his college numbers don't suggest. So far, Flip has done a heck of a job evaluating young talent (Shabazz, Dieng, LaVine). So while I wouldn't have done this deal, I'm hoping that a year from now I can take increasing comfort in the fact that I'm not the Wolves' GM. :)

Sure, I know his physical gifts. I just think it's a long shot that he'll ever use them to their fullest ability. Bennett's soft.

PS: This trade for Payne should NOT impact the way we draft this summer.

Neal was awesome on that spurs team that lost in the finals a couple years ago, great outside shooter.

I like Payne too, love Izzo's guys. Who cares if he's 24? Remember when guys played 4 years of college? They were 23 and 24 year old rookies.

With the Wolves in full rebuild mode, it will not be difficult for him to earn playing time.

Exactly! And all the gnashing of teeth over the idea that we've given up a future non-lottery pick for a guy who people consider unlikely to be a starter? At this point there is no way to guess his ultimate potential, but even then what the Wolves will be giving up is a mid to late first round pick, you simply don't get young prospects for less.

CoolBreeze44 wrote:How about packaging Martin and Young to a team fighting for a playoff spot in the East? That way we get a middling 1st round pick for the pair. In this deep draft that could be a nice piece. Brookly, Boston, Detroit, and Indiana could be possible suitors

What are you going to have to take back in order to make the trade work? Thad and Martin have a combined cap hit of what? 16 million?
