Long time reader, I don't know that I've ever posted... Anyway, I'm a MN native, living in Colorado and I was at the game on Saturday. I've watched every game this year, except for the 2 that got deleted from my DVR (thanks wife!). I go to most of the Twolves games out here, so I've had some ups and downs. Last year, I was at the Pepsi Center for a Twolves loss in a Rubio jersey and he scored 0 points (10+ assists and almost 10 boards), so I got heckled badly! It was all in good fun except for the dude that yelled "Rubio, go back to Europe!" every time he had the ball in his hands, moron!

Anyways, Saturday was a lot of fun. As has already been posted here, Wiggins looked good! After his hot start, the air went out of the building every time he shot. When he hit that 3 from 3-4 ft behind the line, people started to appreciate what he was doing and the "ohhhs" and "ahhhs" started. Affalolo (sp?) looked frustrated and started dumping the ball instead of trying to score. Another fun thing was when LaVine got those 2 dunks in the second half. My non-Minnesota friend next to me, what like, "who the f*** was that guy, he can jump!"

As a scarred MN sports fan, I kept telling my buddies that the Wolves were going to blow it at the end. After Wilson Chandler had a chance to cut the lead to 4 on that 4 point play, he looked at me and said, "maybe you're right", but thankfully the Wolves held on! Great game!

That has to be an ESPN stat. Some guy has made a name for himself over there for just that type of thing.

"This is the first time since 1937 that a guy born in Columbus with the surname that starts with W has scored 27 points in less than 37 minutes and 14 seconds on a Tuesday in temperatures less than 41 degrees in front of between 11,413 and 12,717 fans in attendance..."

Bottom line: The kid seems to be getting better and better and better. That's awesome.
But the "newsworthy records" that are getting reported can be comical at times.

Good post! Do it more often if you can. More Wolves fans in different places. That's always a good thing.

And yeah, I think LaVine might be one of the most exciting guys to watch in all of basketball on a breakaway. He gets UP so quickly, and his length makes it look like he's even higher. Throws it down hard too. The other night he looked at his hand with a grimace after that fastbreak hammer.

I completely agree that a lot of them are ridiculous. I just thought that one was interesting because Wiggins had a great game, and since he's 19-years old, that it was even more special. Never a bad thing to be linked to LeBron in a stat like that.

That stat reminds me of Little Big League announcer Wally Holland...

"Last year though, he was 6th in the American League in hitting right-handers he was facing for the first time, after the seventh inning, at home. So that's something to keep in mind."

"An interesting side note: that's the 14th one-run game for the Tigers already this season. Tops for any team north of the Mason-Dixon Line, whose home games are not played in a dome."

"So with two down here in the 7th, Royals pitching continues to handcuff the Twins, Lou Collins to the plate and he can certainly attest to that. Lou is 0-11 the last 3 games, all Twin losses. He hit two bullets yesterday, but came up empty. Today, more of the same. Hanley looks in for the sign. Lou, by the way, has hit .416 lifetime versus Hanley in the month of September in even years. So that certainly bodes well for this at bat."

THAT's why I dig this forum: you never know when you're going to get quotes from Little Big League.

Kudos GymRat.
