At the end of the season Adelman said he would likely make his mind up quickly, but we are now in August and I just read this -
Saunders also said he remains optimistic that Rick Adelman is ready to return as coach next season. "I think he feels very good about where we're going," he said. "Feels very good about what we've done to improve the team. We're moving forward to try to change some things to keep our players healthier over the course of the season. We're being very proactive in doing that. I think he feels, as we feel, that if we can keep our team healthy and with the pieces we've added, we have a chance to do something special." Minneapolis Star-Tribune
If this was only an issue that was dependent on his wife's condition, why all the "rah rah!" from Flip about the direction of the team.
Is Adelman coming back?
Re: Is Adelman coming back?
I think Adelman is coming back he just hasn't made some sort of announcement that he is coming back because he isn't really into all that type of thing and it would put hsi wife's condition in the spotlight again which he probably has no interest in doing. There is really no indication he isn't coaching he is under contract has been doing everything a HC would be doing in the offseason so until he says he isn't coming back I am assuming he is coaching next year and probably a few years beyond.
Re: Is Adelman coming back?
Just seems odd the way Flip is talking about him. Remaining opTIMistic isn't a ringing endorsement.

Good question, sjm. I guess I have been just assuming that he is coming back so haven't put much thought into it. But you're right, it's odd we haven't heard anything. You would think that a team that wants to keep its fan base interested would want to put out a press release that RA is committed.
Here's why I am pretty confident he's coming back. He was very active in helping work with the Summer League players last month even though he didn't have to be there. Why a 68 year old man would want to spend several days in 125 degree heat is beyond me if he doesn't think he's returning.

He doesn't need to announce that he'll be back because he never really went anywhere. It's like needing a presser from Ricky Rubio to announce he'll be with us this fall
