Khans, No POBO or GM out there is going to evaluate Hayward based on only that one playoff series when in the 52 games leading up to it he was a great player that can play positionless basketball. And MLE money!? As you're good buddy Joe Biden might say..."C'mon man!!!"

I said that's how I evaluate him. Given the current financial climate of the NBA potentially losing billions and the cap going down, who is paying him coming off his injuries?

Hayward is a pretty good player still. I have Gallo as the benchmark for him in terms of a new contract. As Ive said, both players suffer serious injury just as they were entering their prime. Gallo miss 2 years. Still, he got a 2/40 from the clippers when he was a free agent and he was great for them and okc after.

I would offer at least a 3/60 deal to start and see how it goes. We need to have another team absorb jj's contract and find takers for spellman/evans. While I like jj a lot, hayward is better and a starting caliber wing (He would instantly be our best wing) with good size and can play small ball 4. Fits nicely alongside Towns and dlo and is lerfect for the system.

Its not likely that he has his sights on us, but its something worth exploring from us.

Just for fun let's says James Johnson opted out of his contract (he won't)...what do you think his market would be and how much would you be willing to sign him for?

He definitely won't be opting out, but he's worth a 2/16 deal, I think.

That what I had in mind as well. He plays winning basketball. He is great for the modern nba. If he was 5 years younger, I would be pushing for him to be our starting pf for the long term.

This is essentially the view that I think Q has with Jarred Vanderbilt. I can see the talent and even the appeal, but I'm likely less bullish on him than Q is. I'd need to see more on-court production in meaningful minutes for that to change, but I get it.

Looking at vanderbilt. Skillwise, he does have a lot of JJ in him. Can handle the ball, make plays for teammates, long and athletic. He is a much better rebounder than jj but JJ is the better defender. Defense is the key for vanderbilt if he can carve out a role for himself in the league. We see very little vanderbilt in nba games to properly accees him. He may look the part in the g league and college but we dont have any idea if that will translate in the nba.

It won't happen but if he did. Damn the Wolves in theory could be interesting. They would have 26 million in cap space. Just say the Wolves offer Hayward 3/66 million deal. Then select Wiseman at #1 (still not fully sold) Damn that team is really interesting.

Russell/Okogie/ Hayward/Wiseman/ Towns. Bench of McLaughlin, Culver, layman, Naz, Nowell, Vanderbilt and #17, 33.

That is a playoff team for sure. Still would have the MLE to play with also.

Just in general though, Wolves are still going to struggle this year in secondary playmaking. Really only have Russell who is a good playmaker. Hopefully Culver can develop into that

My assumption would be $6-8 million per year
