If Wiseman was an absolute guarantee, I would say it could be well worth the investment. But the reality is that Wiseman isn't even seen by many as the top guy.

That said, it only takes that 1 team to absolutely fall in love with a player. And it seems based on every article, Hornets would be that team. And at least based on the feedback in regards to Edwards and Ball during interviews and workouts, their poor performances in these areas may make a team like the Hornets do something drastic. That has to be working in Wolves favor at moment.

That said, I like Wiseman a lot, and I am not so sure I would trade him. But if we did do deal above, I would absolutely look to immediately flip the #3 for a pick a bit later and take a guy like Okongwu, Halliburton or Avdija, Vassell or Williams and acquire an additional asset. Someone is going to LOVE Ball, and I would think someone will give up similar deal to above to get him at 3. I absolutely want nothing to do with Ball, so I am good moving down a bit.

I was watching the Jump yesterday and Okongwu has been rising up draft boards (supposedly) while Ball has been dropping fast (supposedly). I wouldn't be shocked to see Ball go outside the top 5. They said his interviews have been bad. Not to mention his lack of defense and terrible 3pt%.

I think if you want Okongwu you might need to take him at 3.

I would have to agree. A 6'10 combo forward, and I'd think Charlotte would be more inclined to add that protected 1st.

First choice is #3 and PJ obviously, but he is their biggest bright spot imo, so I doubt they would do that.

Least I would take would be #3 and a top-5 protected 2021 1st round pick that would eventually become unprotected in 2023 if not already conveyed. I might accept top-10 protection that eventually becomes unprotected in 2023 if we also received this year's #32 pick. Perhaps then we could combine 32, 33 and 17 to move up for another top 10 pick and end up with both Vassell or Williams and Okongwu.

I think everyone is underrating how great wiseman could be. I think you take him unless you get a godfather type deal for him. 3rd and next years for sure unprotected at least. May be tempted to ask for bridges as well. Wiseman will be a stud i think.

So far it seems like people In this thread are really in on Wiseman or the value of him or the 1st pick. The least I would take? I'm probably still fine getting some assets and moving down. I'd need something else but Bridges and Cleveland's 2nd #32 and some other decent asset would make me consider it IF there are no better offers. Yes that does not sound exciting but I would look to move up higher than #17 with the extra draft capital and Bridges. Honestly if the Hornets are willing to give up a reasonably protected first and anything else I'm probably all over that and I do think Wiseman is the best prospect at this point. That Zach Lowe podcast everyone said teams are really hesitating giving up 2021 picks because it's a loaded draft. I'm not sure I totally buy that though. I might just pick a guy at 3 but like Cam said maybe you keep trading down. It's possible the Wolves could walk away with a nice chunk of assets and still have a pretty nice prospect wherever they ended up picking.

I had such high hopes for Anthony Bennett that he would become a poor man's Larry Johnson.

I agree with you for the most part, but then it worries me a bit when he isn't the top pick on someone like Jonathan Givony's draft board. More than anyone, Givony freakin' lives and breathes this stuff. He probably knew Wiseman's standing reach when he was a 6-year old.

Yeah that's interesting. They basically straight up have Okongwu even with or better than Wiseman which I do think is interesting and it's also a factor or why Wiseman isn't higher for them I think. It's not hard to value skilled perimeter guys over "bigs". What I wonder is if Okongwu's defensive genius isn't as good as advertised. I tend to believe but in the back of my mind I think...what if he isn't really as good at the instinct and mental aspect of Defense as people think?

I need an unprotected first either in 2021 or 2022. To move down 2 spots in this draft, take it and run. If the goal is to add a third star (and it still is), then they have to maintain some sort of future assets that can't really depreciate (like Golden State with Minny's 2021 #1). I don't think adding a player on their roster does anything for this team outside of maybe Washington and this team is already pressed for roster spots.

If the Wolves traded down to #3 and Edwards goes #2, then they'll wanna move down again with the Knicks being a major target. That could be complicated because they won't wanna move any future assets outside of this year's picks and this draft just isn't worth that investment.
