Annoying right? Now he's part of the World Champion Los Angeles Lakers. I say that to say this: if they believe in his talent, deal with it. I'm sure some of you are upset at Beasley and probably don't want him back and don't really like him as much, but I'll tell you this: all those negative feelings you have about Beasley will be redirected to Culver when he can't shoot 50% from anywhere on the court, and he'd never hurt a fly.

I agree, Wild. As disgusted as I am by what Beasley has apparently done, the Wolves need to suck it up and re-sign him -- assuming the price is right.

Yeah unless something is really off. In some ways I'm a little surprised how much KCP has gotten paid the last couple years but decent wings like him aren't easy to get and I think his agent did a good job of working the leverage that the Lakers kinda needed a guy like him and were willing to pay to make sure they kept him. Wolfson in that last podcast mentioned that Beasley did switch From Rich Paul to a different agent.

Good point, Monster. Another think I'll mention is that KCP had a substance abuse issue, namely alcohol. That's the sort of thing that affects on-court performance. So far, it appears that Beasley is simply a jerk and an idiot. I saw no signs of Beasley not being highly competitive and fully competent on the court.

KCP got paid because of Clutch and Lebron and AD and everything about that agency. His deals were a token of goodwill to them to help them bring all the important pieces together. His overpay had literally nothing to do with his on-court performance or what they were hoping to get out of him.

Still the hope that GOV will someday do what you want or what is best for society. That is not how it works. I'm certainly not the only person who knows that. Deep down I think most people do, but they trick themselves to thinking "America is the greatest" "Doing what is right and moral." Etc......

GOV's are NOT a moral authority. They pretend they are while doing the exact opposite.

The GOV murders (war or police), kidnaps (imprisons), steals (taxation) and I'm sure I am missing some off the top of my head.

The last part of the article certainly added some troubling issues. I'd say there is a real chance if Beasley doesn't get himself on track he COULD be out of the league. He will likely get his chances but...all this stuff is stacking up. I am more concerned about him now both as a person and as someone I would put any real faith in as a part of the team. For me I'm looking more at a 1 year prove it deal at most now if all the new information is true.

Yep, which was one of the likely outcomes I listed earlier in this thread. We could see Beasley take the qualifying offer for 2021 and revisit free agency next summer. That wouldn't be the worst thing for either side at this point. Beasley potentially sets himself up for a more appropriate contract and the Wolves get a longer window to evaluate him as well as avoid giving him far too much money. Additionally, the Wolves would theoretically be able to trade him at next season's trade deadline for something of value to make up for the first-round pick that was sent for him.

I'm pretty sure that since it's a 1 year deal Beasley would have a no trade clause. I can't imagine that would be too big of an issue but I think it's worth keeping in mind. It's a good thing that SG position has lots of options for this team. I'm glad we have Nowell.

I'm ready to give up on Beasley after this last update. Pointing a gun at a family on the side of the road is bad enough, add in the massive amount of drugs and it's a bit worse, pointing a gun in the direction of his own kid, and then his gun(s) is stolen? Maybe he's just a knucklehead, but that's a lot of flags. I'm no longer wondering if we can get him at a decent value, but now hope the Wolves just let him walk. Teams need to stop enabling bad behavior.

A player can also accept his qualifying offer, if he so chooses. He then plays the following season on a one-year contract worth the amount of the QO, and becomes an unrestricted free agent at season's end if he has at least four years of NBA experience. A player can go this route if he wants to hit unrestricted free agency as early as possible, or if he feels like the QO is the best offer he'll receive. Accepting the qualifying offer also gives a player the right to veto trades for the season.

Beasley could still be traded. He would just have the opportunity to veto it if he chose to. I'm not sure why he would as it would likely be a contending team needing bench scoring/shooting that he was going to. But that's far down the line and we may never get to that point. I just wanted to share that for clarity.

Thanks for clarifying. I agree it's far down the road.

It's honestly hard to really feel invested in Beasley at this point. He is basically a "take a chance on" type guy. I'm not against that but I also realize a lot of those chances don't work out. A "Take A Chance" player thread might be coming at some point.
