-Best game ever for DLo? Terrific shooting in the 4th and OT, and some nifty passes throughout the game.
-But Vando has to get at least half a game ball. After getting only 1 offensive rebound against Charlotte, he was aggressive all night with 4 (and 14 total).
-How many F bombs did Finch/Beverley drop in the locker room after the charlotte debacle. Leadership. Defense was night and day better last night despite being on the back half of a BTB.
-Bolmaro was very good on defense against Maxey...his length is such an asset on D. Still awkward running the offense and passes up open shots, but he didn't hurt us. Kneejerk reaction- give him JMac's minutes.
-We got away with sloppiness last night, but we need to protect the ball better. I'm looking at you Naz, DLo and Ant.
Yeah, seems like our offense still isn't where it should be given the personnel on our roster.
The counter to that, Q, is that we have several players who seem to be able to score 1 on 1. I would put KAT, Ant, DLo and Naz all in the upper quartile of the league in terms of being able to score outside of offensive flow when they are on. My God, just look at DLo last night. But the offensive talent level on this team is also a curse...if you think you can score without help, you're more likely to not move the ball. Contrast that with a team like Philly...Danny Green and Seth Curry are not going to create offense on their own. They know they need to get to the corners and rely on ball movement to get their open looks.
The solution is obvious and Finch keeps harping on it. Move the frickin ball, and it will only enhance the offensive capability of our Big Three. In the decisive moments late last night, our offense pretty much consisted of DLo or Ant bringing the ball down the court looking for their shot. It worked last night, but we all know it's not a prescription for becoming a solid playoff team.
Agreed. Another area that is immensely frustrating is how many 3's we attempt from the hardest parts of the floor (above the break but not straight on). How often is Jaden McDaniels or Prince launching a 24-footer versus a 22-footer from the corner? We are 28th in the league in percentage of 3-point attempts from the corners. That should be fixable. You want to know why Andrew Wiggins is shooting a career high from 3? Because he takes 36% of his 3's from the corner, where he has always shown good accuracy.
That frustrates me too, Q, and the contrast between us and the 76ers in this area (even though we beat them last night) was on display last night...Green and Curry live in the corners, and they make the shots. I live Finch and give him a lot of credit for our defensive intensity last night, but does he get some of the blame for our low percentage of corner threes compared to other teams? He needs to preach it as well as hold players accountable.
Then again, my eye test may not be supported by stats. Does anyone have our percentage of corner threes compared to other teams?
I just cited that stat above - we are 28th in the league in percent of 3's from the corners.

According to cleaningtheglass.com the Wolves are currently 3rd in the NBA in percentage of shots from the corner 3s. Wolves are 1st in the NBA in percentage of shots from 3 not corner 3s. Wolves are 2nd in the NBA in percentage of shots coming from 3.
According to nba.com wolves are 10th in iso plays but 8th in points per possessions during those iso plays. Wolves are only 1 of 2 teams in the top 10 in both categories. The Nets being the other

Thanks Kek. To be clear, yes, we are 3rd in percentage of total shots from the corner, but we are 28th in percentage of 3's from the corner. By dint of being 1st in overall 3's attempted, it makes sense we are 3rd in corner 3's because of the sheer volume of overall 3's we take. Unfortunately, the 3's we take tend to be the most difficult ones!
Random observation from last night, Bolmaro is lightning quick at those entry passes. Driving full speed and he'll just quick throw a bounce pass right into a Wolves player's bread basket

Love it, BO...great observation. He's certainly not fluid yet in the offensive flow and clearly is still a reluctant shooter, but he does show a certain flair with his entry passes that belies his young age. Combine that with his excellent on-ball defense, and I really want to see him get PatBev's minutes the next couple weeks.
According to NBA.com, D'Angelo Russell is one of 19 players who have attempted at least 200 clutch shots over the last four seasons (since 2018-19, regular season only), and he has the best clutch effective field goal percentage (54.3%) among those 19 guys. https://twitter.com/Timberwolves/status/1464783468462755840?s=20ICE IN HIS VEINS!
