Rumor has it that Bagley wants out and he's already been shopped around the league without garnering much interest due to his high cap hit next season and his issues the last two seasons. Sacramento wanted a first-round pick for him a month ago. Teams are reportedly waiting for the Kings to sell very low or essentially give him away.
Bagley is not staying with the Kings. Given that he's likely asked for a trade and they're already shopping him it's clear that holding on to him just isn't an option. They were recently reported to have offered Bagley to Detroit for Saddiq Bey and were denied. The same report mentioned that the Kings attempted to package Bagley with other assets to Atlanta for John Collins and were also denied.
The important questions to ask are how many interested teams are there and what do they have to offer? Less trading partners, less demand, the lower the price. This is looking like a Derrick Williams situation where they'll end up taking what they can get just to move on.
It's entirely possible that Bagley will find a new home and surprise many with his play. We see guys change teams and tap into their potential from time to time; probably more often than we used to. Victor Oladipo, Julius Randle, D'Angelo Russell, Brandon Ingram, Domantas Sabonis, Malik Beasley -- this is a short list of talented players that needed a new home to blossom into the players they are today. I think Bagley will be another.
Consider that Bagley had scored in double digits in 14 straight games prior to his recent hand injury. Over that span, he was averaging over 16 points and seven rebounds on 55-percent shooting from the field. He's also making more than 35-percent of his threes for the season albeit on just 2.6 attempts per game, but the progression with his outside shot looks to be real. That number includes shooting 41.9-percent from the corners.
Do I expect him to ever justify being selected second overall and ahead of Luka Doncic? No, I definitely do not. But I do think there's an abundance of talent there and he could be one team away from really breaking out. There's a Collins-esque ceiling here with a few tweaks and improvements.

What would I give up to be able to pay him over 14.5 million dollar qualifying offer next year? Idk this feels sorta like the Beasley trade and as I looked back Beasley didn't miss that many games early on in his career it still feels like injuries held him back when he had gotten going. Injuries have held Bagley back too. Maybe he gets past them and flourishes like Can suggested...or maybe he becomes the next Jabari Parker type. I can see why they aren't going to get much for him. It's a shame for that organization and more so their fans. I just messaged my friend that's a Kings fan about this and he is really frustrated.
