Thoughts about imminent return of Beas and DLO

Post by FNG »

DLO is back practicing with the team, and Beasley's suspension will soon be over. Meanwhile, the Wolves are playing the best they have all season at both ends of the court. Normally the return of two elite scorers would be something to celebrate, but this situation is more complex. KAT and DLO have not had a chance to play much together, and most of us are intrigued to see if they can fulfill Rosas's dream. But on the other hand, Beas and DLO are volume shooters, and thus are going to reduce the number of shots Ant and KAT get. We just don't know if the return of DLO and Beas will be positive or negative, but I'm not allowing "I don't know" as an option in this poll. Come on guys, weigh in...how will the return of these two players impact the team?

Beasley needs to be traded simple as that. Love the guy but he is at Ant's ideal position

"I don't know" - Q

Seriously, it may be a non-issue as I see Beasley getting traded. Given his inability to create a lot of shots for himself, he is largely dependent on plays being run for him and others getting him shots. How is he going to feel coming back into a rotation as the #4 option after being #1 or 2 most of the season? He runs hot and I could see him becoming a negative influence.

He's had a career year on a reasonable contract. Sell high.

Yup. And Beasley was never an obsession by Rosas in the same way DLO was. I think he's gone before the trade deadline or this summer.

I know I haven't been here long, but shame on me for thinking you guys would follow the rules :) !

Since the return of two players who have been starters on this team (or one, if either of them is traded) is not an insignificant event, feel free to comment in this thread how you think things will change...either positively or negatively. Will the pace be the same? How will the defense change? Will Ant and KAT get fewer touches, and if so, will that be a positive or a negative?

I assume you mean in his +/- numbers? Because that's all that matters.

I think it all depends on whether DLO has the mental maturity (he doesn't) to assimilate back into the rotation in a different role. Gone are the days where he is going to have the ball in his hands every play trying to create for himself. He's going to have to fit-in to what the team is doing now. Ant should continue to initiate a large share of the offense. DLO needs to help space the floor and make open jumpers. And then hopefully be more than a pylon on the other end.

But as far as an answer to your question, beats me?

For those that have already voted and chose the "worse" option I'd love to read your reasoning. I'm surely to disagree with it, but at least maybe I could understand that angle because this seems like a silly question to me.

I think more talent on this roster is a good thing. We still need more shot makers. DLo and Beasley fit that need. I like what Finch has done with rotations so far so I think it will be an improvement. DLo and Beasley are better basketball players than who is playing. It may mean a bit less time for McDaniels which may be frustrating for his development since he's been getting a lot of minutes at the 3.
