Rosas will be feeling the pressure and have to make some selling points as to why he should keep his job. I think his leash will be determined by how well they finish the year and what they do during this trade deadline. Play after the trades may be his best selling point.
I would give poor grades to Rosas so far but as with any GM some poor moves can be made up for with only just a few strong moves. He does have a history of actually making moves, so I would predict he makes some significant moves. I think and hope J. Collins is the biggest of moves. He was willing to overpay for DLO, rumors point to Collins liking the idea so I fully expect another overpay. Who knows maybe even land him at a semi reasonable price.
Smaller deals for veterans are the most likely scenario (Rubio, Layman, Juancho) or expiring deals such as E. Davis and V8 J. Vanderbilt make sense as well.
In order for Rosas to sell himself as having this thing going in the right direction he will need stats and wins to back him. This makes me think they actually add a player of significance. Gain assets for players that block younger players. Then he says "see under Finch, who I wanted all along, this team is doing well and our young family is only growing".
How do you think Rosas will do?
Rosas selling points
Re: Rosas selling points
I'm certain that Gersson will be here until at least the end of next season unless the Wolves are even worse their rest of this season than they've been so far. I don't see how that can happen. If Towns stays healthy, the Wolves will inevitably play better and win more games the remainder of this season than they have thus far. Just having Towns back healthy adds wins. Moreover, the Wolves rookies, along with Vandy and Nowell, will be better based on the experience they've gained so far this season. Finally, while I don't know how good Finch is, I have no doubt he's a better head coach than Ryan. Put all that together and the Wolves can't help but be better in their remaining 34 games even without any trade-deadline deals.
Whether Gersson stays beyond next season will depend entirely on how the team performs next season. It's clear that Gersson likes to make big deals and he has to be feeling somewhat under the gun given how bad the team has looked and knowing he probably has only one more season to save his job. So I would expect him to make a big deal or two by this month's trade deadline. On the other hand, if he truly believes in DLO, then he shouldn't feel desperate. Instead, he should be thinking that the team will improve dramatically once DLO gets back healthy and plays with Towns and the improving young guys - Ant, McDaniels, Vandy and Nowell. Gersson should have that level of faith in DLO, given the fact that he gave up the Wolves 1st and 2nd round picks this year to get him.
My fear is Gersson's tendency to overpay. I honestly don't want him making any more big deals. If Gersson can land John Collins without giving up KAT, Ant, McDaniels, Nowell, Beasley or a future lottery pick, then I'm all in. Otherwise, I'd say no.

Re: Rosas selling points
I think ATL will be thinking about what he paid for DLO and look to squeeze Rosas. They will be seeking J. Culver a 1st and a 2nd. Rosas not being quite as desperate because he's not in fear of KAT asking for a trade like the DLO situation will probably counter or get slightly more protection on the 1st.
So Collins for Culver, top 6 protected 1st and a 2nd. It's the overpay I fully expect to see him make but when your job is on the line you kinda have to do something.

Personally if that is the trade for the wolves that is a robbery for the wolves

Re: Rosas selling points
John Collins was the 19th pick of the draft and has been pretty good. If they get 1st & 2nd and former 6th overall that has disappointed thus far but still could develop with a new team that seems like a slight overpay to me and for the record I would be ok with it too.

Yeah, that's a really good deal for the Wolves all things considered.
Re: Rosas selling points
Rosas isn't going anyplace anytime soon. His teams have been without one of their two highest paid players for virtually his entire time with the team. And now even without DLO and Beasley the team is showing signs of being competitive. And it's not as though anybody thinks the current roster is in any way what Rosas envisions.
I'm actually starting to have hope once again, but then again I'm a fool What is that saying about doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results? LOL

Im with you guys. Its a good deal for the wolves. Collins is at least an 18/9 guy on 50/38 percentages that fills a need and is a legit starter.
Culver is now behind Ant/beasley/nowell on the depth chart. I will even play Mcdaniels at the 3 over culver and okogie is still on the team.
That pick will be a few years away so there is time to get better. You swap a young starter for a now 3rd string guy and draft picks 3-4 drafts away. You do it especially that we have young core pieces in place with KAT/dlo/Ant/beasley/nowell/Mcdaniels/Naz.

I want to say I don't think Hawks do that trade.
Realistically any trade to get Collins, Beasley would be in the deal or Mcdaniels. Think the Wolves would be lucky to get Collins in a Culver, Naz, small pieces and future 1sts trade

Because the Wolves are a toxic relationship for us. We just see a little hope and we jump on it. I do like though Wolves have won 2 of 3 when Kat hasn't needed a 30/15 game to lead them to a win
