Installment #3 of unabashed OPTIMISM!!!

- There were 5 NBA games tonight. The Timberwolves easily had the best 4th quarter of any of the 10 teams.

37 points... +13 differential.

No other team was even close. Good job closing, boys!!!

Installment #4 of unabashed OPTIMISM!!!

After the Wolves last three 1st round picks (Edwards, Okogie and Culver) combined for 7 points in 54 minutes (3 - 10 fg)... and 8 points in 58 minutes (4 - 18 fg) over the previous two games... the Wolves last 4 1st rd picks exploded today.

26 points in 83 minutes. (10 - 29 fg).

Whew. I was getting worried for awhile there.

Installment #5 of unabashed OPTIMISM!!!

Almost everybody is doing something to help the team win games. Almost every player has a positive OWS (offensive win shares) on the team. Yes, even Hernangomez, Layman, Rubio and Ed Davis. The Wolves just have to put it together and get some wins now. C'mon boys! We believe in you.

Only Anthony Edwards (-0.6) and Jarrett Culver (-0.2) are actively keeping the team from winning games. But don't worry... they're soooo young! Edwards is only 19. Brighter days here we come!!!!

[Note: Yes. A double-whammy post of unabashed OPTIMISM!!!! Enjoy.]

Installment #6 of unabashed OPTIMISM!!!

Since 2008... the Timberwolves have won FEWER games than their pythagorean W/L expected total... in 12 of 13 seasons. They matched it one year. This is unprecedented in NBA history.

But this season... the Wolves are right on their expected W/L total! 5 - 15 is what they should be. So with only one extra unexpected win between now and the end of the season... the Wolves break one of the craziest unknown statistical streaks in NBA history!!!

Finally. Progress. You're welcome.

The San Antonio Spurs are currently in the playoff race, sitting at #8 in the standings with a 12 - 10 record.

The Wolves beat them once, took then to OT once and stayed with them until the very end yesterday. Obviously, other than winning 2x as many games... these teams are a lot closer than they appear.

After being thoroughly outplayed by a team that came into town on a 1 - 21 slide for 90 out of 96 minutes this weekend... I'm in the mood for some optimism. How about you?!?!?!?

Installment #8 of unabashed OPTIMISM!!!

Unlike other seasons when the Wolves finished with the worst record, the organization does not have any veterans in such high demand by playoff teams that the Wolves were forced to buy them out...

We're so bad the rest of the league no longer considers us their farm team.
